Lego Technic 42158 NASA Mars Rover Perseverance ages 10+ $99.99 total piece count 1132 Finally got the chance to build this set!!! I’ve been real excited and sure enough it did not disappoint! This gem 💎 of a find can be found new usually in stores priced at $99.99. However, if you’ve seen my previous vlog when I go to Walmart, I found one in the clearance section for $85 USD. The reason of it being there was as you recall, the exterior, the box was slightly damaged. The inside was in tact, new and sealed. A lot of engineering when into this, they got the rocker boogie wheels set spot on and works amazing! This set comes with four steering wheels of which you are able to be rotate in the yaw direction. There is a knob lever that allows to perform this function. The other function is using the knobs on the rear of the RTG to extend the boom of the arm from the tucked in position to extending the arm out complete. You do have to manually position the last half. It also includes its companion helicopter, Ingenuity. The knob works but it is very sensitive; if you nudge any of the wheels it translates to the other wheels. Also, since the linkage only goes so far for each of the 4 driving wheels, the inherent slop in the Lego Technic gears, u-joints, and joint slips add up, which makes it difficult to adjust. A quick solution for this is to lift the rover up and then move the knob to reset it. You’ll get what I mean, once in action. The arm is another engineering marvel but it does have instrument clusters that throws the center of gravity off, once you have it fully extended, using the knobs on the back may be a bit hard to move.
