To capture Amadeus' style I made sure to use yellow skin tone parts and kept it almost 100% purist (with the exception of erasing the pin and embroidery on the torso). The Punisher is arguably my favorite @marvel character. @lego did a fantastic job with this figure and is a perfect representation of the character. His story is tragic and his motivations for justice make sense but he’s going about it the wrong way. I was a huge fan of the 2004 movie when I was younger and the Netflix series is so good. 🖤 Venomised Groot! 🖤 I picked this @lego set up as soon as it was released… but only just opened it to build. Why did I wait?! Super creepy/cute 😂 I’ve popped it straight onto my bookcase (the backdrop for my teams/zoom calls for work)… I reckon it should add a bit of drama alongside the Star Wars helmets. There’s one more bag of (almost all black) bricks if you want to make him completely ‘venomised’… but I’ve opted for the combo version. The venom eye is awesome but it’s those little pink viscous jaws that are my favourite feature. They use a strange connector piece - shown in my photos - that’s totally new to me. But this is comics baby, and no characters gets to truly change, retire or die. Marvel Editorial wants the O5 back, so it's gotta happen. The X-men writer, Chris Claremont, hates the idea ofc, and is told on a Friday over dinner so he can't quit on the spot. Eventually he tries to find compromises to the Jean problem that let's her stay gone, Dazzler or Jeans oft forgotten sister Sara, now with empathic abilities, we're the two main suggestions. But Marvel wants Jean, so Jean comes back. Oh hold on, didn't she destroy a planet? So Marvel needs a way to bring Jean back, and excuse that genocide she did. In comes Kurt Buseik with an idea. You know the Dark Phoenix Saga, arguably the best X-men stories that cements Jean as one of the greats with her tragic sacrifice? Yeah it wasn't her. The Phoenix Force cloned her, and the real Jean remembers none of this and is at the bottom of the bay she once "died" over. So in comes Bob Layton, the editor who pitched the book, to write this new series in which the O5 X-mem pretend to be mutant hunters to secretly help Mutants while coming up against their greatest threat yet...the Owl. You know, that Daredevil villain? So that lasts about 5 issues, and in comes X-men editor Louise Simonson, changing the Owl reveal before it hits the stands to this new foe APOCALYPSE. And the rest is history. Cameron Hodge, Angel kills himself then gets turned into Archangel, the debut of Rictor and many other iconic X-characters. The X-Factor people remember. Years ago when I knew less about Lego and didn’t order online I asked my grandma to get two figures for me off of eBay. Since she didn’t know exactly what to look for she saw some cheaper listings and got two knockoffs from china. 2 months later they finally showed up but I knew they weren’t real. I then gave those to my cousin bc he didn’t care if they were fake. I still love my grandma for trying to get me these tho. ❤️ Long story short I now have both of the official figures in my collection!
