I'm just beginning to explore the fascinating history and preserved architecture of Louisville, Kentucky. I didn't know that, almost two centuries ago, Kentucky grew more cattle than any other state, and was a leading hog producer as well. Many of these animals met their fate at the Bourbon Stock Yards in Louisville's Butchertown neighborhood, which traced its lineage to 1834. Studying the Derby already on a Monday! This is the one week of the Year I wish I grew up in Louisville. So much cool things happening this week, the Pegasus Parade, the Great Steamboat Race, all the cool events. I’ve always heard they are broadcasted on TV there too. Lexington had its Derby glory days I truly believe in the 1990s with Preston and Anita’s Madden’s party and Mary Lou Whitney’s party. I was a kid growing up so sadly I couldn’t attend but loved watching the news coverage of them. The Kentucky Derby is present day fun as it is nostalgia for me. I love feeling the connection to the past races, the parties with family and friends and seeing my late father always pick the big winners. Sometimes horses come along and really connect you to the past. So this year I’m Picking Encino to win the Derby. His jockey is Concepcion. My dad’s favorite player was Dave Concepcion. And Enicno. Well my Dad’s cousin had several restaurants in Los Angeles proper including a Soper’s Steak House right in the heart of Encino!
