We are prepping our flower field a bit differently this season: Normally, we do the usual spring clean-up where we cut down the remnants of last year's plants, remove the weeds, add fresh compost, broadfork and rake to smooth the beds, and then re-lay weed barrier fabric before planting. This season, we're ditching the landscape fabric. Instead, we're using wood chips, which naturally suppress weeds, for our paths. We're also relying on planting close together so that as our plants grow larger, weeds have less space to thrive. In trying to be more sustainable and closer aligned to nature, this change feels like a step in the right direction for our farm. We also sourced local manure to spread over our beds. I'm excited to see the health of our soil improve as we begin to care for it more intentionally. Swipe for the before.

This week was 🤯 I’m having a hard time putting my thoughts into words about this past week. It doesn’t feel real. 4 years ago I had a little idea to start a niche charcuterie board business because I saw the trend rising on the west coast and knew I could do it here & do it well! FF to it absolutely snowballing into what it is now with our extended menu! I won caterer of the year in 2023, I was just nominated for entrepreneur of the year for 2024 and I truly feel like this is what I’ve worked so damn hard for. All the late nights, hectic mornings, tears, self-doubt, etc were worth it. This week we made: 6 medium cracker boards 2 medium charcuterie boards 13 large charcuterie boards 3 large crudite platters 1 strawberry feta salad 2 blueberry goat cheese salad 1 Antipasto Salad 1 Fruit Platter 16 Caprese Sandwiches on Ciabatta 14 Charcuterie Sandwiches on Ciabatta 12 Turkey/Avo Sandwiches 4 Chicken Salad Sandwiches 50 Charcuterie cups 426 Lunch Boxes with 5 different menus (a new company record) Grazing table for 50 for a retirement party for the following: NFL Draft in Detroit Funeral Administrative Professionals Day MSU Graduation Networking event at Board and Brush Teacher Appreciation To top it all off I’m currently taking business classes with the Hospitality Training Institute so I was in the kitchen with my AirPods on listening to our class discussion😵💫 Eric, my MIL, my FiL, Mila, Britt, and Trish took time out of their busy schedules to help in the kitchen! @lipstickbritt thoughtfully and generously made my entire staff custom AG aprons with the logo, our names and titles. 🙏🥹 Tom- my husband, business mentor and guide hammered out all the logistics, deliveries, working from sun up to sun down on not only my business but his own work and clients/- I don’t know how he does it but it amazes me every single time. He works SO hard to help me achieve my dreams and pushes me to strive to be better everyday. Everything was planned and executed meticulously. Never stop chasing your dreams, no matter how cheesy they may seem 🤪
