🦉 The title is misleading. It DOES NOT tell you how to get away with it. Kitty Collins just does. Can't call it dumb luck because even that requires some plotting. Seems there simply are no CCTVs or witnesses or forensics in this world. And it's the 2020s, why are we still doing the not-like-other-girls crap??? Giving it 2⭐️ because I enjoyed it. Somewhat. 📚Just Finished ✅ ❄️ Of Ice and Heartbreak Soo this was almost a DNF but I persevered 😂Essentially our MFC, Edina, learns she’s a fae princess after living her life as a mortal witch. We skip over her leaving her entire life behind to move to Faerie and her adjustment period. She is instantly fine with her new reality and the only reason she has issues is bc her mate rejects her not long after she gets there. Happily accepting her new life wouldn’t be so shocking if she had an awful life so far, but she talks about having a summer house in the Maldives, living her best life having flings, and partying with her bff, so no real issues. Her blasé demeanor towards being forced to leave her world to go live with a family she doesn’t know, after turning out to be a creature many people don’t trust or like… the whole thing doesn’t make sense. One of the most frustrating things is that the author would constantly allude to info that was never discussed, but there was an assumption that we would know what she was talking about. Edina’s mortal parents apparently not caring about her is an example of that. They mention it once as a joke and that’s it. Another time the MMC, Eldoris, mentions that Edina fought in the ‘Witch Wars’ with them after she arrived (which makes no sense bc she just got there, just learned she has powers but suddenly she’s fighting in a war?). They mentioned this war multiple times, but there’s no context at all. The one that really had me poised to chuck my kindle clear across the room was when Edina is suddenly afraid of centaur arrows and Eldoris comes up to her and is like ‘your friend got hurt by one of these right?’. Huh??? Since when?? If you’re going to cause a huge scene about her being afraid of something… can you give me some context about why??? ALSO the author never even explains WHY CENTAUR ARROWS ARE SCARY. And then the arrows aren’t even described as being used after all that! It was rough… but we did it! Aujourd’hui était une journée très particulière. Il y a longtemps que je n’avais plus rencontré Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, ce fabuleux écrivain que j’adore et que j’admire depuis mon enfance. Dans ses livres, il a toujours trouvé les mots pour apaiser mes maux mais aussi m’aider à voir le monde et la vie avec un autre regard. Sous le regard de l’étonnement, de la bienveillance et de l’optimisme. @ericemmanuelschmitt_officiel est un auteur que je pourrais écouter parler pendant des heures. Son érudition et sa sagesse sont très inspirantes et sa façon de s’exprimer est si réconfortante qu’il nous emporte en nous tenant la main. Pendant cette courte conversation, j’ai enfin pu lui dire ce que j’avais sur le coeur. J’avais absolument besoin qu’il sache. Qu’il sache que ses romans ont changé la vie d’un enfant, d’un très jeune adolescent. Je lui ai dit « merci. Merci de m’avoir offert ce magnifique cadeau, le goût de la lecture. Et merci de m’avoir parlé à travers vos livres car sans vous je ne serais pas là aujourd’hui. » Ou en tout cas, je ne serais pas l’homme que je suis devenu. Nos regards émus se sont croisés scellant cet instant hors du temps. Un moment à jamais gravé dans ma mémoire et qui me conforte dans l’idée que cet homme est extraordinaire. Maintenant, j’ai hâte de me plonger dans son nouveau roman, le quatrième tome de cette fabuleuse saga. Une nouvelle occasion de passer un moment avec Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt. I’m a huge Disney World fan, so it was fun to read about fictional Dreamland (that was most definitely modeled after Disney, down to the underground tunnels). I absolutely fell in love with the characters - I wanted to be besties with Zahra and Rowan’s uptight, controlling demeanor was hot. The story was as much about two opposites coming together as it was about each of them finding their own passions, and choosing love over the expectations of others. I loved that this book included representation of disabilities (autism) and mental health in a real way - like it was supposed to be there instead of being forced into the story. I also LOVED the epilogue (and bonus epilogue). 📍Kings Day in Amsterdam. This photo was taken in Sarphatipark, but every street in the city is busy with stalls selling food, old clothes books etc and people having fun. The country is full of people wearing orange & it is such a nice atmosphere 🧡 📚Swanna in Love by Jennifer Belle 🌟🌟🌟✨ 3.5 stars 💬 Firstly this book has many trigger warnings, so best to check them out before reading. The author did an amazing job of portraying this story, as there were some parts I found really difficult to read. The book is about Swanna, she has a very difficult childhood, dysfunctional parents and is very troubled. She is left at her summer camp & by the time her mother shows up 6 hours late, her mum is stoned and has a new young Russian lover. Swanna and her brother are taken to an artist colony where kids are not welcome. Swanna then meets and falls in love with Dennis a “handsome married father of two”. I found this book heartbreaking at times, parts are quite disturbing but Swanna voice was so strong and present, it made me want to read on. I found the ending maybe a little rushed but the book was very well written. Have you read this? Which series do you wish you could read again for the first time? ✨📖 I’d LOVE to read any of the SJM books again for the first time, especially ACOTAR! I had no idea how much I would love that world 🥹 the series also introduced me to the romantacy genre and I’ve had so much fun with it ever since! The Crescent City series was such a change of pace for me as well and I really enjoyed the mix of urban fantasy with the more typical fantasy elements. And then Throne of Glass destroyed me emotionally about 10 times and I’ll never recover 😂 I just finished the latest Riley Sager book Middle of the Night and I have some thoughts 🙈😂 I’ll post a review soon! ☀️ Trial of the sun queen - Nisha J. Tuli ☀️ De flaptekst vind je in de reacties! ----------------- Ik wist niet dat het mogelijk was om zoveel bekende series in één boek te krijgen. Op het boek zelf staat volgens mij een mix van de Hunger Games en de Bachelor, maar voeg daar gerust de Selectie, Glazen Troon en Hof van Doorns en Rozen aan toe! And I love it!! Ik kan me voorstellen dat mensen dit tegen staat, maar ik kon dit heel goed los zien. Dit boek las echt als een trein en het pakt je al vanaf de eerste pagina. Een echte pageturner. Vanaf het begin dacht ik het einde wel al een beetje te kunnen voorspellen, maar dat bleek even totaal anders 😉 Het boek heeft me dan ook met aardig wat vragen achtergelaten. Je leert gelijk het hoofdpersonage Lor goed kennen en hoe zij is. Een gevangene van Nostraza, met veel liefde voor haar broer en zusje, maar die zich vaak in de nesten werkt. En een grote haat tegen de Aurorakoning, die ervoor gezorgd heeft dat Lor en haar broer en zusje zijn opgesloten. Maar dan raakt ze onverwachts betrokken bij de selectie van de nieuwe Zonnekoningin. Een uitkomst en een mogelijke wraak. Naast Lor, vond ik alle personages eigenlijk heel sterk en er was er geen waar ik echte irritaties bij had of wat zwak vond. Alle daden hadden een reden en maakte het personage juist sterker. Het is heel makkelijk om een connectie met ze te ontwikkelen. Aan het begin van deze LE zit ook een mooie, gedetailleerde kaart die je al een kort inzicht geeft in de wereld van dit boek. De world boulding vind ik echt heel sterk en ik ben echt benieuwd hoe dit de komende delen zich verder gaat ontwikkelen. Diverse delen/provincies van het land in dit boek hebben mijn interesse gewekt. Vooral Hart. Kortom, een mix van allemaal bekende en populaire series, het feit dat het boek wegleest als een trein en ik vanaf de eerste pagina gelijk al hooked was, maakt voor mij dit een van de parels van dit jaar! Très clairement, la relation amoureuse est d’une toxicité extrême. Pourtant, dans son évolution, elle reste belle à sa façon. Les protagonistes ont parfaitement conscience de cela, ils ne se bercent pas d’illusions. Les multiples intrigues sont si prenantes ! On a envie de savoir ce qui est arrivé à l’arrière-grand-mère d’Addie, de comprendre qui est Zade, ainsi que sa précieuse mission, qui nous le fait rendre plus humain, sans pour autant l’adoucir réellement. Ça n’en reste pas moins un livre avec énormément de scènes explicites, rarement consenties. I read "This is How it Always Is" by @laurie.frankel. This book stuck with me longer then I expected. I was so engrossed in the characters I couldn't put it down, I cried more then once. The book is really about parenting and making hard decisions. Claude wants to be a girl when he grows up and we explore what this means for the family in the story. Being the youngest of 5, all boys, it presents an interesting perspective for Rosie and Penn. The book asks some tough questions and I think that is way really stuck with me. The idea of accepting yourself for the person you are even if it mean also accepting the more difficult life it comes with. 🥀Where’s Molly - H. D. Carlton🥀 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ I knew I would not be disappointed with this book! Since getting glimpses of Molly through her journal in Haunting Adeline, I was hoping we would get a chance to find out more about her, and we did!! Molly is a badass and it’s so easy to get sucked up in her character. Seeing her backstory and learning what life was like for her before and after definitely hits your heart, but also seeing how she’s dealt with life after just shows how strong she is. Cage is perfect for her, and the things he does for her are so sweet. In a beautiful house, in the old capital of Madrid... I finished The Familiar. She did it. Again. @lbardugo wrote a masterpiece, a book so good that it will stay with me for a long, long time. Soooo, here's my spoiler free review: 4.5/5 ✨WOW. I love it. Such an amazing book!! I loved it since the very first moment (to be honest, I loved it since I knew it existed) and it got me a bit more trapped each page I read until I was completely in love. One of the reasons why I liked it so much is because it's set in my hometown. Luzia and Santángel speak my language and walk the streets I've walked. And I don't know why, but I love that. Another reason is that, while I read this book, in literature class we were learning things about the Spanish Renaissance, so everything I read was something I understood and knew and I really, really like understanding things. The last reason... well, because ✨Guillén Santángel✨ appears in this book. Cause, OMG, Santángel 😍 The only thing I didn't love was the fast paced romance. I really miss the slowburn romance of KOS, SOC and Alex Stern. Whatever, it was a masterpiece. Queen Leigh does not fail. Ich mochte bis auf 𝗗𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝗰𝗵𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲𝗿 (das Buch habe ich einfach nicht verstanden) ja bisher alle Bücher super gerne und auch 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗯 𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗯 konnte mich wieder richtig begeistern. Natürlich haut Fitzek hier einen Twist nach dem anderen raus. So gehört sich das schließlich auch für seine Bücher. Ich finde Fitzek selbst hat schon oft genug Humor bewiesen. Spätestens bei seinen Danksagungen. Die Kombination mit Beisenherz hat mich aber tatsächlich das ein oder andere Mal hier laut auflachen lassen. Humor im Thriller mag nicht jedermanns Geschmack sein, meinen hat es aber absolut getroffen. Kurze Kapitel in dem eine verrückte Handlung nach der anderen folgen und am Ende folgt dann doch alles wieder einer Logik. Ob es realistisch war? Eher nicht. Ob es trotzdem Spaß gemacht hat? REZENSION 📚 WESTWELL Reihe von Lena Kiefer PS: Ich habe die ganze Reihe gelesen! ✨ Das erste Band hat mich komplett in seinen Bann gezogen. Zwei verfeindete Familien, wobei eine Tragödie den ganzen Hass noch mehr verstärkte. Aber was tut man gegen seine Gefühle, die vom Kopf her verboten sind? Wie sagt man so schön, das Herz will, was es will und genau das macht die Reihe so spannend. Die Charaktere Helena und Jess werden so toll beschrieben, dass es direkt ins Herz geht. ✨ Das zweite Band hat mich leider nicht wirklich überzeugt, denn die Spannung ist so gut wie gar nicht vorhanden und es wirkt an vielen Stellen einfach langatmig. Die Story macht aber leider neugierig, also lese ich Teil 3 auch noch. ✨ Und yaaaay, die Spannung ist wieder da und merke gerade, dass ich gar nicht so viel erzählen kann, ohne zu Spoilern. ABER: Es gibt eine Leseempfehlung von mir, obwohl ich nicht der New Adult Typ bin. BOOK REVIEW Where Sleeping Girls Lie by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé Sade has suffered many tragic losses in her life. Seemingly out of options and looking for a fresh start, she begins attending a prestigious boarding school. However, misery seems to follow Sade everywhere she goes and her new roommate disappears on her very first night. Now, Sade and a few new friends must uncover the dark secrets of Alfred Nobel Academy in order to find Elizabeth. This is a book for which content warnings should be observed. This book didn’t quite live up to expectations for me, but perhaps those expectations were too high. The cover and the concept drew me in and I’m very much on board with the commentary it made about toxic cultures/ideologies that can permeate certain institutions. Unfortunately, though, it took me about 250 pages to become even remotely engaged with the plot itself. The book was simply too long. There was too much time at the beginning devoted to depicting the mundanity of day-to-day academic life. I wouldn’t have a problem with the length if the author had spent more time at the beginning letting the reader care about Elizabeth before she disappeared. Also, leaning into the horror elements by making the portrayal of Sade’s haunting visions more terrifyingly descriptive would have improved the overall tone for me. In the end, I like certain characters like Sade, Baz and Persephone and the ending was satisfying in that it was pretty realistic, but this one didn’t quite live up to its potential for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Do you ever wish an author could have a redo of a concept that had so much potential? Oh my goodness I want to give Henry a big hug. It is absolutely impossible not to fall in love with his sweet character. In this second beginner chapter book, Henry is headed to the museum with his class. He is conflicted, he is excited to see the dinosaurs but he is also cautious and nervous about getting lost and everything being new. He heads on his school trip and in this warm story we see him discover that being lost isn’t always so bad and that new can be pretty great too. Highly recommend! Druga część jest równie wciągająca co pierwsza, dużo się dzieje, poznajemy nowych bohaterów, a także dowiadujemy się więcej o tych, których już znamy, np. królowa Junn i Storme, oraz towarzyszymy Crier i Ayli w ich „drodze” do ponownego spotkania po sytuacjach z pierwszej części. Obie wiedzą jakie zagrożenie niosą ze sobą plany Kinoka i próbują zrobić wszystko, by je pokrzyżować. Cudownie było wrócić do bohaterów i móc ponownie zanurzyć się w tym fascynującym acz niezbyt bezpiecznym świecie pełnym tajemnic. 🥹 Książka trzyma w napięciu, przez co nie ma mowy o nudzie i do ostatnich stron nie ma się pewności czy wszystkim uda się wyjść z tego cało. Podobała mi się mała zamiana ról, kiedy to Ayla doświadczyła tego jak to jest żyć w bogactwie, a Crier musiała walczyć o przetrwanie. Crier jest zdecydowanie moją ulubioną bohaterką, jej odwaga i rozwój postaci w tej części są niesamowite. 🤍 Uwielbiam styl pisania autorki, który jest lekki, dzięki czemu książkę czyta się naprawdę szybko i przyjemnie. Jednak jest kilka rzeczy, które mnie tutaj lekko rozczarowały i dlatego ostatecznie oceniłam książkę na 4⭐️ a nie 5. ☹️ Przede wszystkim oczekiwałam czegoś więcej od wątku romantycznego, który jest w tej serii moim ulubionym. Trochę słabo został poprowadzony. Na dodatek zakończenie było niezbyt satysfakcjonujące… mam wrażenie, że za szybko wszystko się potoczyło i trochę… za łatwo? Myślę, że gdyby zamiast duologii autorka zdecydowała się stworzyć z tego trylogię, to byłoby to znacznie lepsze. Mimo wszystko nadal kocham tę serię i zaliczam ją do jednych z moich ulubionych serii fantasy. 🫶🏻 Polecam wszystkim, którzy mają ochotę na fantasy z queerową reprezentacją i z automatonami (rodzaj robotów). Z pewnością spędzicie z nią wspaniałe chwile! ☺️❤️🔥

Je serai la reine d’Ithicana et je mettrai à genoux le Royaume du Pont. ✨ Thèmes : Fantasy, combat, romance, espionnage, politique, trahison, rivalités. 🩷 Whaouuuh, mais c'est quoi ce super roman ! Je suis totalement fan de l'univers et des personnages 😍 cette fantasy a eu mon cœur et mon âme 🥹✨ je meurs d'envie de lire le tome 2 ! 🌅 Tout d'abord, dès les premières pages, j'ai été happé par cet univers ! Deux royaumes en conflit deviennent liés à jamais grâce au mariage arrangé de Lara, héritière du royaume de Maridrina et Aren, roi d'Ithicana. Donc durant le roman, on fait la rencontre de Lara, qui est ce qu'on adore chez une protagoniste : forte, intransigeante, mais avec un cœur tendre. Mais aussi, celle d'Aren : tendre, gentil, mais ferme ! On va vivre avec eux de multiples rebondissements, des remises en question, des combats épiques et de sacrées trahis 🤭 Je vous assure qu'on ne s'ennuie pas une seule seconde 😍 Car, on nous présente une intrigue principale, avec à côté une jolie petite romance qui se met en place. 🏜️ Le wordlbuilfing est juste INCROYABLE, la manière dont tout est construit est juste magique. L'écrivaine a réussi à équilibrer la balance avec toutes les explications sur son univers ( les royaumes, la façon dont fonctionne Ithicana, le pont..). Il y a un vrai contexte géopolitique, qui m'a passionnée 😍 L'écrivaine a une plume addictive et entraînante, avec ces descriptions de paysages. J'avais l'impression d'y être 😻 🌊 Mon dieu, mon dieu les personnages sont TELLEMENT incroyable. Le travail de l'écrivaine est fantastique et tellement bien amené. Clairement, Aren, c'est un nouveau bookboyfriend débloqué ! J'ai aimé son personnage du début à la fin 🥹 il est si doux, si gentil, attentionné et juste incroyable. Le personnage de Lara, la protagoniste est plus complexe, c'est un énorme coup de cœur. Et leur relation a tout les deux m'a totalement conquise ! The new place setting and character change really worked for me in the book. Aurora, I just adore her freesprite. Her banter really made me laugh hard. I loved her character; I would relate to her in a few settings. Honey Acres brought a different Aurora altogether!💫🫶🏻 🩷Russ, the sweet, shy man, got his perfect spitfire woman🔥... He's an absolute gentleman! Well, I deserve someone as cute and understanding as men in life too!😉 I was fully swooned over him getting constant cuddles from the golden retriever puppies! 🐶🐕🦺🏕 🩷To see them fall in love was wholesome!🥰 Their traumatic pasts were something they had in common, but the summer camp lit up their lives with the love and happiness they deserved! I won't have asked for anything in the book; it's felt so real to me, and I didn't expect the book to be this good! 🩷 I was hooked on it, from the plot change to when both of them arrive at Honey Acres as a camp counsellors🏕. I lived the camp life vigorously through this book, and I enjoyed every second of it! No kidding! Oh, and how can I forget my favourite members from the camp—🦮Fish, Salmon, and Trout🐶—the cutest characters in the book. 🩷This book is full of fun, family, friendship, drama, and love. Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book had me hooked immediately. The chemistry between the two main characters was evident from the start and the dual POV made you feel connected to both characters. I loved the opposites attract trope and of course the fake dating. The small town setting definitely added to the story and made you fall in love with the other characters. It is a closed door romance but gets pretty steamy at points of the book. Definitely recommend if you like: ✨opposites attract ✨small town ✨fake dating ✨closed door ✨dual POV Excuse me while I go read all of @authorsarahadams books.
