Reflecting on this rollercoaster journey as a military spouse, I can't help but feel so many emotions! The constant moves, the tear-stained goodbyes, and the long or sudden periods of separation are so familiar. Each new set of PCS orders is exciting to me, at the same time it's a little nerve-wracking. And let's be honest - military life can be downright tough on relationships. It's not for the faint of heart. But in the midst of it all, there's my rock, my partner, my spouse, standing strong beside me! (Of course, his career choice is the reason for these challenges, but HEY! Not pointing fingers. ;) ) His unwavering support, late-night FB chats and 3-minute video calls from across the world, and his unbreakable dedication to me, to our family, and to what he's doing keep us going. I've weathered deployments and TDYs that felt like an eternity, endured the loneliness and difficulty of solo parenting, AND! celebrated *the sweetest* reunions that make it all worthwhile. We've been tested, stretched, and strengthened through every trial and tribulation. It's not always easy, but it's our journey, our story, and I would write it with him this way a hundred times again. Here's to love that transcends distance and to the unshakeable bond that keeps us grounded through all this.

We hit one of many full circle moments in our life today. One that has been so lovingly orchestrated by God, and that has been set into motion for at least the past 10 years. If you’re new here, this is my husband Nathan. This man was born to fly. 10 years ago he flew fixed wing, thinking that he had made it to his dream. The door swiftly shut, with no hint of opening anytime soon. We met several years after that door shut…dreams of my own spiraling into their own sort of chaos. God brought us together as one, a team to encourage and love each other through self inflicted limitations. As we pursued deeper into our relationship, military and aviation were our most discussed topics, but usually never discussed as a pair. Through my brother, we learned of a path for Nathan to earn his wings, but in a way he never saw himself embracing. Fixed wing turned rotary. These pictures are from him sharing the stories of moments from his first flight…curled up on the couch over hard ciders and pizza…reminiscing over the days that led us to this day; the day he flew a helicopter for the first time. I’m so proud of him.

Today was incredible with absolutely special people. Kyle’s flight graduation marks my first time shooting a flight graduation, and wow do the emotions really spark during the occasion! Kyle was pinned by a longtime mentor of his, while his family and national guard buddies rallied around him in celebration. He was presented with coins from his adoptive grandfather, a man he had stopped to talk to while on a run one day…they developed a deep friendship, unbeknownst to him that this man is a CW5 with a lot of history to share. He surprised his mother with such a precious gift to mark the milestone, a silver necklace with rotary wings. He and his girlfriend Jackie have become such dear friends, two souls who cherish those around them and embrace sentimentality. They’re a force of a couple, and my heart is singing with such joy to have the honor in capturing such an occasion. Congratulations to Kyle and the newest Army Aviators!
