Day 4 First flight of what was meant to be 3. Stayed in Kuwait 🇰🇼 airport overnight and awaited my next flight. This beautiful @airbus A321-Neo turned up on stand. Everything was going great a tight connection at the other end but I believed if we left on time everything would be ok. Well we didn't and it wasn't. I arrived in Abu Dhabi 25 mins late. Taxi to the gate and waited for the jet bridge to be attached. I needed to get to the check in desk to get a Boarding Card. Finally the open the door and I get up to the concourse as quick as possible. But it was to no avail. I asked Wizz Air rep if the check in was still open and it wasn't. Don't worry though guys I have sourced a flight home so its all good. If the Wizz Air flight had stayed at the time it was meant to we would of been fine. Sydney, Day 6 with an unexpected twist! Our flight from Sydney to Auckland was delayed and nearing the end of our flight we alerted the cabin crew that we had a connecting domestic flight in just one hour. Before landing, they shifted us to the front of the plane and we raced off the plane to border control…only to find an already long queue. Our hour was gobbled up waiting. Air NZ phoned and asked where we were in our journey to the Domestic Terminal, as our plane was boarding. We were still in the queue, so we missed our flight. Flight delay meant missing our connecting flight to Fort St. John by 10 minutes + a 6.5 hour wait until the next flight out of Calgary. This what it looks like when you have missed your plane!!! Yup. We made a huge mistake and somehow missed that unvaccinated travellers needed to have PCR tests to arrive in Nicaragua. I honestly don’t know how we missed this detail as I felt like we’d checked everything a million times, but not that detail. We’d arrived a couple of hours early (we always do) so headed off on a frantic dash around LAX to find out that the Covid testing clinics had all shut down from lack of use… So we missed the plane. Funnily enough, far from being grumpy and painful the kids knew that things were totally out of our control and we had a ball walking several miles around the airport to find more closed Covid testing places. 😊 #creatingmemoriestogether I wasn’t so happy to find that the tests costs $450 US (that’s over $700 AU) for the family, and that when we went to reschedule our flights every plane to San Salvador was booked out for 4 days… and so we’d miss 4 days with family in Nicaragua. All up it turned out to be a hellishly expensive little mistake….
