From the Daily Mail: The Metropolitan Police received just six applications during its most recent armed officer recruitment drive as hundreds quit following an officer being charged with the murder of Chris Kaba. The Authorised Firearms Officers (AFOs) is made up of around 2,500 Met police officers who work as volunteers with no extra pay. On top of the half a dozen who applied to join the Specialist Firearms Command, more than 250 AFOs left the unit between April and December last year. With around one in 10 of the members quitting, Britain’s largest police force is concerned its AFOs officers will be unable to meet their commitments to keep London’s streets safe by patrolling the capital 24/7. In contrast to the recent departures, only 22 armed officers left in the 12-month period leading up to March 2023. The Sunday Telegraph reports that the recruitment drive has become so difficult that the force is now inviting officers who are still in probation to apply - although they will have to be fully qualified before they can go out on patrol. From @lbc Hundreds of officers have left the Metropolitan Police’s firearms unit in less than a year amid growing anger over disciplinary procedures and the decision to charge a colleague with murder. Between April and December 2023, the Met lost over 250 authorised firearms officers - one in 10 - compared to only 22 in the year leading up to March 2023, according to figures in The Times. Vorige week hadden wij een groep van 18 meiden van @talententeamreggestreek op bezoek. De meiden van O19 waren in Hellendoorn te gast voor een trainings tweedaagse. Komende jaren willen wij samen inzetten op: ✅ Fitheid ✅ Blessurepreventie ✅ Blessurebehandeling ✅ Voeding ✅ Mentale fitheid Al deze facetten kwamen in de trainings tweedaagse aan bod. Roy Schoot Uiterkamp heeft twee dagen de verlengde warming up verzorgd. Jorien Brinkers, sportdiëtist bij @voedingconditie gaf een lezing over voeding rondom trainingen en wedstrijden. En onze leefstijlcoach Martijn Krabshuis, wist als oud sportinstructeur van defensie enkele leuke opdrachten om de meiden te prikkelen op het gebieden van samenwerken, discipline en communicatie! Leuk om twee dagen met zulke enthousiaste meiden aan het werk te zijn. Een verfrissende tweede dag van de TTR-ZorgSaam trainingstweedaagse Ook vandaag stond er een mooi programma op de planning. Het middagprogramma hebben wij wederom wat aangepast vanwege het warme weer, waardoor wij de dag op een verfrissende wijze konden afsluiten. 💦💦 Vanmorgen startte de meiden met een veldtraining bij @vvhellendoorn. De warming-up, werd, net als de core-stability en krachttraining, verzorgd door @fysiotherapiezorgsaam. Daarna kregen de meiden een interessante workshop van Jorien Brinkers van @voedingconditie over sportvoeding. Na deze workshop stond er tussen de middag weer een gezonde lunch klaar voor onze meiden. Teambuilding stond vanmiddag ook weer centraal. De meiden kregen verschillende opdrachten en oefeningen waarbij zij veel moesten samenwerken en leerden om op elkaar te vertrouwen. De middag werd afgesloten op het strandje bij de Regge waar de meiden, onder begeleiding van hun eigen muziek, een verfrissende duik namen. Plezier gegarandeerd! Succesvolle start van de TTR-ZorgSaam trainingstweedaagse! De meiden van de O19 hadden vandaag een pittig programma met hier en daar een aanpassing in verband met de hoge temperaturen. Na het ontvangst en het welkomstwoord kregen de meiden een presentatie van @fysiotherapiezorgsaam over onder andere blessure behandeling, mentale fitheid, blessure preventie en lichamelijke fitheid. Op deze manier konden wij alvast kennis maken met de werkwijze en de trainers/coaches/begeleiders vanuit @fysiotherapiezorgsaam. Daarna konden wij actief aan de slag en werd er gestart met een warming-up verzorgd door @fysiotherapiezorgsaam, waarna de meiden een technische training kregen van hun eigen trainer op de velden van @vvhellendoorn. Tussen de middag genoten de meiden van een heerlijke en gezonde lunch zodat zij er ‘s middags weer vol tegenaan konden gaan. De middag stond in het teken van metingen, teambuilding & samenwerken met als opdracht een voetbalpuzzel.
