Beautiful words from my niece Caitlin to go with a drawing that she did for her GCSE art @echo_schmecho23 Not a personal poster by any means and this will probably be my only post like this but it's something that matters to me so I wanted to share it. As of September 26th last year my incredible cousin said goodbye to us, he had suffered with an immune deficiency for a long while and decided that he was no longer happy living with it, making the choice to take his own life. It hurt a lot and truthfully I'm still not over it and doubt I ever will be. Oliver helped to raise me, always finding time to hang out with me even though I'm the youngest in the family. Oliver was smart, kind, funny, loving and just an absolutely amazing human being. He loved rowing and cycling, always enjoyed our family holidays and absolutely thrashed everyone at Rumikub and badminton. I completely understand that as some faceless editor on the internet I don't mean much to many, but my father along with some friends and colleagues are planning a trip for February 2025 to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in order to raise money for Movember (a fundraiser chosen by my lovely auntie) and, even if you don't donate, sharing the link to his fundraiser along with my cousin's story would mean more than you could ever imagine. Oliver was an incredible person with a bright future ahead of him, he was taken from us far too soon. Even if its just a few pounds or just sharing this to someone, anything will help. I was able to leave my bergen somewhere safe, so I dragged my arse alone up to High Willhays, the biggest hill in Dartmoor. Naturally, I managed to take the longest route possible, which meant plenty of photos. On route, I met chewbacca the Greyhound, an ex racer who was delightful. Stopped to take a full body invisible latt selfie in front of Meldon Reservoir before hiding from a Ram that was stalking me. I learned today that Dartmoor is essentially a massive bog. You can very easily find yourself knee-deep in mud if you don't watch your footing, or worse, you could step in a random hole that leads to a concealed stream. Al vostro arrivo in piazza verrete indirizzati verso dei “gate“ di entrata dove verrà effettuato il check-in dei partecipanti iscritti al Ride (maggiori dettagli sulle modalità di check-in verranno inviate tramite mail agli iscritti). Dopo i km percorsi insieme, side by side, durante il nostro Ride arriveremo verso le 17 alLa Spiaggia di Comabbio, luogo di conclusione del Ride, dove avrete la possibilità di mangiare qualcosa insieme ed intrattenervi con gli amici di Radio Village Network e la buona musica del party esclusivo Enjoy the Ride. Le 19 mai prochain, aura lieu la Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. Organisée par @triumphnantes, cette sortie moto réunie chaque année des milliers de motards vintages dans le monde entier. Les participants doivent s’habiller de manière chics ou à l’ancienne. Le défilé a pour objectif de collecter des fonds et sensibiliser sur les problèmes de santé masculine comme les cancers des testicules ou de la prostate au travers de l’association @movember. C’est également une manière de lutter contre les stéréotypes souvent négatifs attribués aux motards tout en réunissant la communauté autour de la santé masculine. Pour l’instant, sur Nantes, nous sommes 42 inscrits. N’hésitez pas à nous rejoindre en vous inscrivant. C’est l’occasion de passer un bon dimanche, de rider ensemble et surtout de le faire autour d’une belle cause. Irgendwie bin ich heute nicht aus dem Bett gekommen und erst um 9.00 Uhr aufgestanden, aber das darf an einem Sonntag auch mal sein 😊 Dafür ging es gleich in die Lauf-Klamotten das schöne Wetter genießen 😊 Nach dem die letzten Läufe recht zügig waren wollte ich heute mal wieder ganz entspannt laufen und einfach mal den Kopf frei kriegen. You never know how people will react when they look at you from the first time. From kids telling their parents that man has a pink moustache, to random people coming up to me to comment on how I look. Tomorrow I embark on my new professional career as an employment consultant. When I confirmed I got the position, I literally cried. I need that change in my career but also how I was received when I had my interview made an enormous difference as well. I made the decision to address the elephant in the room and openly talk about the pink hair and pink moustache and why I do it. The response was an overwhelmingly positive experience and I walked out of there knowing what I said, resonated true with myself. I will never change my appearance. I have (almost) been like this for the past 3 years. Its who I am and it’s a colour that is me. As much as you try, you are never going to make people happy with how you look but education starts by having a conversation and understanding the reason why. Movember will always be a part of my life and I will always be there to represent Movember and what it does for the community. To all my Mo Sista’s. I hope that by doing what I do, if only small, will help raise more awareness for Breast Cancer and women’s health. The positivity of what you do, overshadows any negativity which you may encounter.
