The People’s Choice Winner is @sagner_by_katrin for #DressFriday Your own dress design for #sewapril2024. Katrin posted “This dress was sewn for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. I wanted something with an almost sleeveless feeling and a bit of bias cut since that would look so awesome for this particular fabric. I bought an orange ring on a flea market and came to think of how it matched the gorgeous striped linen in my stash. About six years earlier I had sewn a dress for our trip to Tuscany (pic 6-7). I loved that dress and felt so pretty in it, but it had sadly shrunk in the closet. I decided that pattern would be terrific if I could manage to size it up. I originally drafted the pattern for the Tuscany dress myself, so now I’ve made it twice in two different sizes. I’m a little sad the first version fits me better than the orange one, but that may partly be that I miss my slimmer body. Both dresses are fully lined and when you swipe you can see the burrito trick for cleverly turning the bodice at the armholes. 👉🏻 Both fabrics are beautiful linens. The orange fabric is from @finlirrackartyg in Trelleborg. Another ceramic pitcher jug! Here we got 2 problems… pinholes and crawling, and above that, the bodyclay started to bubble lol . The exterior glaze was overfired … it probably reached cone 7 but cuz it took a lot of hours the firings (16 hours) … the crawling was a bad glaze with more water than it was supposed to and cuz of the ulexite .. hard to explain .. but it happens… all handbuilding with slaps again… the inside glaze is honey oatmeal with ulexite and the outside… it was a overlap with several glazes .. katz burke green, val turquoise, floating blue , chum seafoam and heath ivory .. and on the half bottom, i put another glaze.. This beautiful error just came out of the kiln! This is a salad bowl made with marble clays (black and white) , slap building technique… i wanted to be green the inside of the bowl but i messed up with the names.. i was supposed to use chum seafoam, but instead i put chum celadon with copper and cobalt and ohh my… my mistake was great! The story behind Sheila from Nepthisis joining us on our latest release, ‘My Own Design’! It all started with a casual chat between Eric and the incredibly talented Sheila Eden of Nepthisis about a potential collaboration down the road. Little did we know, fate had other plans in store for us. During a practice session, Eric played a snippet of Sheila’s mesmerizing vocals to the band, and the moment Ken heard her voice, he instantly envisioned Sheila singing a haunting melody over the song he’d been crafting in his mind. The stars aligned, and the rest, as they say, is history. We’re thrilled to have Sheila lending her incredible voice to ‘My Own Design,’ and we can’t wait to perform it live together for the very first time this Saturday at the SOLD OUT show at the Launchpad, opening up for the legends in Alien Ant Farm!
