Added these 5 finished ornaments to my stash this weekend. All stitched and finished by me! A little chinoiserie, a little Mass pride, a bit preppy, and some boy-mom to continue rounding out my eclectic collection. I may need to invest in a faux tree this year to hold all of my creations. It was pushing it a bit last year to fit them all on a real tree. I got so much done yesterday while the sun was shining - started collecting plants for my window boxes and back door urns, got Boston ferns for the patio, and dirt for the wisterias, picked up our other car from shop, and drove home with 30 8’ 1x3s on the roof so we can start rebuilding the fence that runs down the side of our yard. I 🩷Royal pieces! I was just discussing with someone last night how hard it is to find these pieces let alone in nice condition. This vintage biscuit tin is honestly one of the nicest I've seen...it was made in England by Huntley & Palmer to commemorate the 1947 marriage of HRH Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. Building our own custom closet allowed us to add details that worked best for us and maximize every corner. Our house was quite lovely when we bought it, so I don’t have dramatic befores to compare to the afters. But it’s still fun to see the changes we’ve made. This is our living room now and in the listing photo, seen from the corner by the doorway into the front hall. To the immediate left (but out of frame) are the built-in bookcase and fireplace. We added overhead lighting and wallpaper and swapped the drapery hardware. The rest is just our stuff instead of theirs! Still traditional, just a bit more dramatic! I’ve been meaning to take these comparison photos ever since I got a wide angle lens on my phone. I’ll try to do some other rooms soon. It’s beautiful today. And we had a really productive weekend. Briefly, things feel manageable. We need to pick up one of our cars this morning and I may use it as an excuse to pop into a garden center. 🌤️🌷 I figured the best way to soak in the art of mixing age and styles in home decor, is to show some stills of shelf styling. This built-in is to the left of the one in my last reel. I already removed one item here (as shown in 2nd pic) to create better balance with a change I had made on the other side. I loved having it here, but needed “less” to balance a more minimal look I opted for to the right. I wanted something ginormous and sculptural. I had a vision the night before our shoot, so I asked Steph to get her dad to cut a few branches from her backyard. They were exactly what I had envisioned; weird, inspired, sculptural. When we stepped back after struggling to get them to stay, the branches looked as though they were reaching their limbs high into the vaulted ceiling, unapologetically filling up the space exactly as I had imagined. So when people ask, "Did this b**** cut giant branches from a backyard and style them on her client's table?"
