Have you seen the crocus lawn at Wallington NT in full bloom? It's been on my radar for the last few years but the last time we tried it had just gone past it's best. Luckily, we managed to catch it this year and although it was raining when we arrived, the sun came out and made it look even more beautiful. If you'd like to catch it, I think the flowers are expected to be out for about another week. At the moment there are crocus talks led by a member of staff at 2pm in the Walled Garden. The flowers seem to be blooming slightly earlier this year - has anyone else noticed this? It finally feels like spring is on its way! We had a girls' day out today to the fabulous Hall Hill Farm, where there were lots of very cute animals - especially the baby ones. I've also seen snowdrops, crocuses and even daffodils in bloom today (which seems very early this far north). A little goat kid who kept jumping over her (standing) mum brought out my daughter's oh so infectious belly laugh but my heart was won by this gorgeous little Valais Blacknose lamb who made himself comfy laid on his mum's back. For a bit of fun, I gave it a quick edit and it turns out that Vogue liked it too! Highly recommend a trip to Hall Hill this half term, though wrap up warm, it was still chilly up there today despite the sunshine. I think the pancake flipping is more exciting than the pancake eating in our house and so I always make sure I get some photos of this family tradition to compare how my children are growing (far too quickly, though their pancake skills are coming on great!). There's always some great facial expressions but this year, I think I may have got the best pancake tossing photo ever. I sometimes get asked for examples of colour themes and props available for my newborn sessions. My answer: I have a beautifully soft white blanket and a squishy beanbag. That’s all I need. Your baby is perfect just as they are. My sessions are free of headbands, restrictive wraps, props and distractions. I will however encourage you to bring a sentimental item to use in your photographs. I throughly enjoyed this wholesome family maternity session. What a beautiful family, I was given a fresh homemade cinnamon bun and cup of coffee while we chatted. Hands up, who is suddenly feeling motivated to do their Christmas Shopping now that Black Friday is here?! Whether you love the opportunity to look for a bargain or you're more sceptical about how good the deals are, it does seem to focus us in on the task in hand. I've had several requests for present ideas from the family over the last few days and not only need to send out my suggestions, but need to edit the children's lists to be slightly more realistic! If you're looking for Christmas gift ideas, I can provide gift vouchers for Family Photography sessions or also one to one photography tuition. Family shoots last approximately 60-90 minutes and take place at a venue of your choice, usually outdoors but we can shoot in your home too. They include a framed 6x8" print and digital copy of your favourite image with the option to purchase additional prints or digitals once you have seen the files. Prices are £80 midweek or £100 on a weekend/school holidays. My one to one photography tuition sessions are totally catered to your needs. Based on information you give me before the session, I'll go over some theory with you (in a down to earth way), share some example images and then we can head out with our cameras to put it all into practice. Sessions cost £90 and typically last between 2-3 hours, depending how many questions you have and where we go for the practical session. To best compliment my photography style choose plain light colours, like whites, creams & greys. To add a touch of colour choose pastel colours like pinks, blues and sage green. Avoid patterns and logos as these date your images more quickly. Dresses look flattering and are a great backdrop for children. Pudsey Day (as my daughter calls it), is much anticipated in our house. I think, partly due to the tradition of making Pudsey biscuits! It's a bit controversial but Bonfire Night is one of my favourites. As a child, I've got fond memories of going next door, to my godmother's farm, for a big bonfire with her family. Jacket potatoes roasted in foil in the fire, parkin, homemade toffee and of course a tin of her famous ginger biscuits. Being the youngest there, I often enjoyed them from the warmth of the land rover sat alongside older members of the family. Nowadays, I count myself lucky that I can replicate that experience for my children and our friend's children (in fact, now I'm the godmother hosting for her goddaughters!) with an annual gathering at the stables. The horses will be tucked up safely inside with Classic FM for company and we'll be gathered around the fire with sausages, cheesy jacket potatoes, parkin and s'mores (I might even rustle up some ginger biscuits if there's time tonight), making memories for the next generation. I hope that in years to come, they'll look back as fondly as I do. Of course, I've tried to capture those memories in photos as part of my photo a day project (these are from last year). 🤍Sweet and perfect 🤍 🤍My newborn photo shoot style is very relaxed. We take it at baby’s pace and capture real, cosy and beautiful photos. There’s no posing and if baby gets upset they go straight back to their parent for lots of cuddles and love until they are happy again 🤍 🤍Parents are offered plenty of drink refreshments to keep them hydrated. Newborn photoshoots are not the quickest of sessions. It’s a completely different environment for a newborn where they are held by a stranger, anyone would be uncomfortable in that situation let alone a newborn who has only known the security of being inside a uterus for approximately 9 months. It’s important we take the time to make sure baby is fed and happy before we start trying to take photos. 🖤 Charlie is such a good big brother to his sister Sofie, giving her lots of cuddles and kisses. He was also a little star when it was his turn to get some pics alone 🖤 🖤Getting a little family shoot with the newborn is a great way to get lots of attention on the sibling. They usually love the chance to be the star of the show while parents settle their newborn sibling. We usually sing song or make silly noises and make a big deal about how big they are and are such a good sibling to their little sibling.
