Yesterday a post about a guitarist that I admire and played with in Paradiso in good old hometown Amsterdam. 'But you played with more international guys of a certain level, didn't you?'... Yeah, this one for instance, 20 years ago at the NSJF, hired als extra 'free floating' percussionist with the Metropole Orchestra, in good old place of birth The Hague. Wonderful conductor Jim McNeely is the guy in the middle. Pat was artist in residence that year. Astrud foi uma das principais atrações das noites do North Sea Jazz Festival, e sempre foi muito bem ovacionada e recebida No Brasil, fez somente quatro aparições como artista: no seu antigo colégio, onde fez uma apresentação totalmente reservada, no Teatro Record, onde fez seu primeiro show como cantora, na Faculdade de Arquitetura do Rio, onde estreou ao lado de seu então esposo João, e no especial de Tom e João, em 1992, no Rio de Janeiro Qual o motivo de não ter vindo mais como artista ao Brasil? O fato de sempre ter sido menosprezada e tratada com frieza pelos brasileiros, em especial pela imprensa. Em julho de 1965, quando veio para sua primeira apresentação no Brasil, no Teatro Record, foi duramente criticada pela machista e preconceituosa impressa brasileira por causa da sua separação de João.
