. It’s one of the most beautiful and under-rated lakes on the Alberta side of the Rockies. Why? Maybe because there is no real trail that goes to the lake, a small parking lot just off the highway and only a 500 meter walk to a viewing area, constant fast flowing traffic and easy to miss the lake in that fast flow? Just not that well known especially when the nearby lakes like Lake Louise and Morraine Lake attract majority of the tourists and are also more easily accessible? And yet, this glacier fed lake is a beauty in its own! I have bushwhacked down to the lake in summer weather and it takes only about 30 minutes or so to reach it, another 45 to come back up. Remember, there is no designated trail. This picture is from the first time I saw it in winter, I walked a little bit off from the viewing area to get this view, and sat there for a while… it was November end, the powder was fresh from overnight… I was sad, and yet there was a certain calm I felt there…perhaps it was the cold that made me numb, numb to the storm brewing inside… numb to the pain….
