On the North / Central Embarcadero you can see the famous Star of India (Part of the San Diego Maritime Museum) as well as nearby attractions like the Portside Pier restaurant complex. This is also abn actual working waterfront with fishing gear on the Grape Street Pier, as well as a place for the larger luxury yachts to dock. (I tried to get a name but couldn't find one on this beautiful monster yacht. Further south is the B. Street Cruise Ship Terminal, Broadway Pier, the G-Street Mole, and the USS Midway Museum. Tourists can literally spend a full day exploring this 1 mile of the Embarcadero. I worked this area for over 30 years, and is still a joy to be there... The International Propeller Club, Port of San Diego, recently hosted its annual Golf Tournament at the challenging Carlton Oaks Country Club. Teams representing San Diego’s dynamic Working Waterfront faced off with "some of the best" golfers "known for their skills and integrity", vying for the perpetual Cup. PMG put forth its own "talented" foursome. Team Captain Todd “Longshot” Quinn led the group in the Team Motto: “We like big putts, and we cannot lie”. Second in command Bill “Danger” Harju, eraser at the ready, was the Team Scorekeeper. Jeff “Scorcher” Brown set the new PMG Team Record for distance. He threw his pitching wedge a good 20 yards. Steve “Whiff” Frailey, our intrepid Anchor Man, proved that golf is a sport you play when you are too out of shape to play other sports. The day held many challenges for Team PMG. Working together, the Fearsome Foursome showed that that through experience, practice, skill and stamina, through rain, sleet and hail, against all odds, that no matter how badly you start, it is possible to get worse. Tailspin. Tonight, my return flight coincided with the launch of the Space X Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Air Force Base. Lucky me, I was able to see the launch while airbourne. As we pulled into the gate, the Falcon's exhaust looked like rotational tailspin. What a magical way to return home! 😊

Congratulations to the newly promoted Corporal Toogood and Darling. Corporal Toogood is a member of the Maritime Tactical Team and Corporal Darling is an instructor with the Weapons Training Unit. Both of these officers have done great work as patrol officers and we can't wait to see them continue to do so as Corporals.
