Let’s talk… 🗣️ Bone content 🦴 Bone in a raw diet is extremely important, it’s where our carnivorous pets get most of their calcium. Generally, bone is measured by the %, for example, in 80/10/10 one of the 10s represent 10% edible bone. This guideline can be extremely helpful, but it’s not quite accurate if you only feed the same amount of bone for each RMB using that ratio. Each raw meaty bone has its own meat & bone percentages, for example, the duck feet Andi is being fed is: Meat: 40% Bone: 60% It’s also important to mention that each bone has its own nutritional profile, meaning one might contain more calcium than another. The duck feet Andi is eating are generally low in magnesium compared to duck necks, but duck feet are a bit higher in calcium than duck necks. To calculate the bone content I either use a free online calculator (Feed Real & Perfectly Rawsome both have a bone content calculator) or do the math myself.
