One week ago we had a first date with the lovely lady Nuoli, and int the beginning of the week we had two successful breedings. Mickey is hopefully going to be a father! A huge dog called Teebee was living at a local bar for quite a while.🐕 Recently we got a picture showing him in a terrible state (first photo), from Nelson of ‘Focus in Africa’. He felt very sorry for the dog and kindly offered to bring him to us to see if we could help. Teebee was very malnourished, had papilloma (warts caused by a virus) which is usually only seen in puppies or young dogs and normally not a life-threatening condition. But TB’s mouth, tongue, throat were so full of it that he couldn’t eat or swallow any more – we never saw something like this before! And as if that wouldn’t be bad enough, he had tick born diseases and badly infected paws with no flesh left on the bones. He was clearly suffering very much, only to imagine the pain in his paws was heart wrenching. We always will try but for TB the only option was to end his suffering. Not every rescue has a happy outcome – but putting him out of his misery was certainly a happy ending for this poor soul. Nature is complex but I think this complexity is what exactly makes it beautiful. Animals, yet we think are not able to communicate but in my opinion may sometimes communicate with even more clarity than humans can fathom. The instance I’m about to share is a perfect example to this. Milo had the fortunate chance to meet Buddy, a decorated veteran service dog. Milo has always been a friendly dog but I was not expecting the response he gave when he met Buddy for the first time. His body language and breathing pattern instantly, switched from excitedly friendly to calm and composed. It took him just seconds to become a version of himself that even I was not able to witness before that exact moment. His tail, instead of wagging fast, became slow. You can imagine if you have a dog that when they change their behaviour you as a family member of the dog, will notice it. I was kind of shook. At first I was worried but as Milo approached Buddy, his head was bowing like he was showing respect. He didn’t do the usual licking and playful tricks w Buddy but he stood there, head little bowed and kept his eyes on Buddy the whole time. This was a life altering act for me that Milo did. I am confident of the fact that Milo was surely giving a tribute to the veteran Buddy and this act was nothing but show of immense respect that Milo wanted to convey. I love Milo with all my heart. But this made me feel proud. Afterall, you cannot teach someone to be a gentleman. But Milo, my guy, you are a born gentleman. And Buddy thank you for making me realise it. Stari oko dva meseca, juče urađen osnovni vet pregled. Ono što je uočeno jeste da dečak Noa ima povredu šapice koja ga na dodir boli. Neko mu je prešao nečim teškim preko šape i koščice su polomljene 😥. Nažalost, procese zarastanja je već počeo i moraće brzo da se reaguje. Najverovatnije će nogica morati da se operiše. Nema povrede mekih tkiva okolo, ligamenata, tetiva ali je jako bolno na dodir i skoro je ne koristi. Kako ne bi nastao još veći problem, šapica će biti ovih dana snimljena i odlučiće se šta dalje 😔. Moglo je i bez ovoga ali dobro, šta je tu je. Po preporuci veta čišćenje od parazita za par dana, za 10ak prva vakcina. Preslatki svi do jednog ♥️. Mama malog rasta, tako sitna da će oni još malo biti veći od nje. . 🇬🇧 - I forgot to tell you that a fortnight ago, walking around Bilbao, we came across the Gargantua, which is the caricatured figure of a giant that is usually taken out into the streets on the days of popular festivals in the Basque Country. The children get in through his mouth and, by means of a slide, come out through the back of the giant. My human mother was very excited when we saw him because she remembered that, when she was a little girl, her parents used to put her through the giant’s mouth even though she didn’t want to because she was too scared. So she decided to put me in, too (I think it has to be interpreted as her loving me very much). Fortunately, they don’t allow dogs, TVs, umbrellas or anything other than children (they are very traditional in the Basque Country), so I was lucky... 🙄 🇪🇦 - Se me olvidó comentaros que, hace dos semanas, paseando por Bilbao, nos encontramos con el Gargantúa, que es la figura caricaturesca de un gigante que se suele sacar a la calle en días de fiestas populares del País Vasco. Los niños se meten por su boca y, a través de un tobogán, salen por la parte trasera del gigante. A mi madre humana le hizo mucha ilusión porque recordaba que, de pequeña, sus padres la metían por la boca del gigante a pesar de que ella no quería porque le daba mucho miedo. Así que decidió meterme a mí (creo que hay que interpretarlo como que me quiere mucho).
