Men and angels can be called "God" and be treated as if they were THE God as long as they are God's mediator through agency. There are several prophets in the Bible, people who traveled around to share the Good News. . Today, information is spread more quickly with electronic media but there are still people who travel around to share the Gospel message. . Do you believe God still uses prophets to spread the Good News? . I DO! . I mean, why change a system that works right :-) . 🔥 Day 121. Read 1 Chronicles 10-12 After Saul was killed in battle with the Philistines, the people of Israel remembered that the prophet, Samuel, had anointed David king. They gathered together and spoke to David: “Behold, we are your bone and flesh. In times past, even when Saul was king, you were the one who led out and brought in Israel; and the LORD your God said to you, ‘You shall shepherd my people Israel, and you shall be prince over My people Israel.’” (1 Chronicles 11:1-2) They recognized that David was to rule over them by God’s choice. Mighty men from throughout the kingdom came to support David. It is recorded that “David became greater and greater for the LORD of hosts was with him.” (1 Chronicles 11:9) The favor of God was on David’s life because his heart was devoted to God. He enjoyed not only the favor of God, but the favor of the people also. “For day by day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army like the army of God.” Devotion to the LORD is a precious commodity in the sight of God. It is one of the themes of the Proverbs that Wisdom is better than any of the riches that this world has to offer: “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom… She is more precious than rubies, and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared to her” (Prov.3:13-15). The situation is clear: we must not trust in uncertain riches (1Tim.6:17), but in the Wisdom that comes from God. Riches can provide a temporary pleasure, but Wisdom is far superior, for it alone can give life. The exhortation is to “labour not to be rich” (Prov.23:4), but to accomplish the Will of our God. James describes heavenly wisdom thus: “the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy…” (Jas.3:17). Notice the point here, this wisdom is “first pure”. We must seek after the purity of true wisdom, for it is only then that it can be peaceable etc. Hence it is written of the Age to Come: “the work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever” (Isa.32:17). Righteousness comes first, and then as a consequence, peace follows after. The only source of wisdom is from God Himself: “For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding…” (Prov.2:6-7). We must have the principles of the True Gospel permanently etched into our hearts, for it is written of the Word: “by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you…” (1Cor.15:2). Happy Sunday!! Let me ask you a question, what does it mean to be wise? Today’s scripture gives us an answer James 3:13 says “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.” ‭‭James‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬ ‭KJV‬‬ When we talk about wisdom we may imagine someone who has answer to every questions, but godly wisdom is different. James says true wisdom is shown by how we live and not by what we know. Godly wisdom is knowing God’s word and applying it on our daily lives and as we grow in godly wisdom our lives begins to reflect God’s ways. James also talked about humility which leads us to obey God and put the needs of others before our own. When we work in godly wisdom, humility is the outcome. Humility help us know this and serve others in times of need. Whether is helping someone living in poverty or simply hugging someone suffering loss, no matter how big or small our part is, when we serve others with a humble heart, it is evident that God’s wisdom is working in us. Does your action show proof of Godly wisdom? If you need wisdom, all you need to do is ask. In the midst of the storm, when the winds rage around us and the waters rise, we are called to look to the One who commands the seas and the skies. For it is in our greatest trials that God’s power is made perfect. When we are weak, then we are strong, for His strength is revealed in our weakness. Consider the words of James 4:7: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” This verse reminds us that surrender is not passive; it’s an active stance of faith. By surrendering to God, we are not giving up, but rather gaining the strength to stand firm against the adversities that come our way. And in Philippians 4:6-7, we find comfort: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This passage encourages us to bring our concerns to God through prayer, with a heart of gratitude, and trust that His peace will sustain us. Isaiah 1:13-20 stood out because the religious practices don’t matter if your humble submission isn’t there. We can’t live in two worlds and expect to please GOD. Many of us is living life in a maze right now because we are trying to do both. We shouldn’t be surprised if we can’t hear GOD! “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You” (Psalm 119:11, NKJV). The Protestant Reformers had something twenty-first century people desperately need—a purpose for their lives. In his book, The Empty Self, renowned American psychologist Philip Cushman discusses people who live purposeless lives. Their beliefs are shallow. Little of real significance matters to them, and they have nothing worth dying for, so they have little worth living for. But the men, women, and children of the Protestant Reformation were dramatically different. They had an abiding purpose worth living for. What they believed mattered, and they were not willing to compromise their integrity. Their core beliefs were an inseparable part of them. To deny these beliefs was to deny their very identity. In the face of death itself, they had an inner peace. In this week’s study, with examples from the Reformation, we will explore how the life-changing teachings of Scripture provide the basis for genuine purpose and true meaning in life. Understanding these eternal truths will prepare us for the final crisis in the great controversy between good and evil. The battle the Reformers fought is not yet over, and we have been called to pick up where they left off.
