It wasn’t his first attempt. I lived in that nightmare for awhile. Trying to get him help. Feeling like a failure when he finally succeeded. And year and a half later I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Unresolved emotional traumas could do that to us. Recently, I went on a profound journey. It was the type of journey you can only go on alone in its truest sense, but I was blessed to have @joyofintimacy by my side. Such an inward journey makes you have to face yourself, which can be extremely confronting. This would usually be considered shadow work, but this journey was different. The intent was to let go of control. To surrender, and observe the self from a more objective perspective. Shining a light at all there is from a place of safety, not clinging onto control. The journey was full of emotions—lots of laughter and fun—and even more tears. It was the river of past hurt, which my body had held onto in trying to keep me safe, unbeknownst to me—a protective mechanism gone awry. But when you truly let go, they bubble to the surface, ready to be released. It was a reminder that stillness is not a lack of change; it’s embracing change rather than trying to control it. That beauty arises from seeing, embracing, and loving all aspects of ourselves if only we dare open our eyes to it. And from there, in the words of Alan Watts, salvation is found: “So don’t resist change. We are liberated by the very fact of not being able to stop changing. You can’t hang on to yourself. You don’t have to try not to hang on to yourself. It can’t be done, and that is salvation.” It was also a powerful reminder that to open one's heart, you have to let go of the past and let go of control. Once you stop fighting the stream, flow with it, and welcome whatever arises in every moment, only then can you truly feel love. #change #journey #discovery #love #surrender #control
