HOLY MOLY!!! I’ve been in Austin for 4 YEARS!!! That means I have been here the same amount of time as when I lived here from 1999-2003! That is incomprehensible to me. As a 22 year-old, moving away from home for the first time, that 4 years was a very formidable time, that I will always remember vividly as my “glory days”. Turns out yacht work is like riding a bike 🚲🤷♀️ I have always wondered what it would be like after all this time and if I could still do it…and I’m grateful that an opportunity came to me (literally fell in my lap 🫣- thank you universe!) in June to give it a go. Adventure #1. It all started on Friday. I was given permission to go to the gym and get my workout in but had to be home, showered, dressed and ready to go by 10:00. My husband had left "to run an errand" and Taylor told me I was to accompany her and the baby. We ended up at Bruce's house where I was met by Bruce and Katie. I saw that Bruce's car was there and assumed he was in the house. I was handed a card to open. After I had read it, I looked up and in drove my husband. Now many of you may not know it, but when Bruce and I first met I owned a CJ5 Jeep Renegade. I had it for ten years and didn't give it up until I was 8 months pregnant with Bruce. While this wasn't a ragtop, it was a Jeep and you could have blown me over with a feather. Embarrassing story... So, my son asked me about when Michael and I met and it had me thinking about this picture. This is one of the few times Mike and I got to hang out, back before we were dating. We had been talking about going ice skating, so despite being no good at ice skating, it sounded like fun and we got a group together. At one point I was skating by myself and Mike was standing together with the rest of the group in the middle of the arena. I came over and tried to skate around the group to stand next to Mike and one of the other girls. As I went around him the front of my skate hit the back of his and I started to fall. So I grabbed what was closest to me. I threw my arms around Mike to try and catch myself, and started sliding down his back. 🤦🏻♀️ he put his arms out behind him to try and help me, but it wasn’t working, I was still falling. I couldn’t get my skates underneath me and my feet were randomly flailing every which way and my arms are wrapped around this cute guy I like, but we’re just friends... and then I come to a stop. My knees hit the ground and my face stopped right on his rear end! 🤦🏻♀️😂 Yup. That happened! It was so humiliating! And yet, somehow during that time ice skating he asked me if we could go on a date sometime... when he asked me that I looked at him, and then fell extremely hard onto the ice.
