Au nez, elle est bien sur du résineux, avec un tout petit peu de fruits tropicaux mais pas grand-chose. En bouche, l’expérience est déconcertante. Je ne sais pas si j’ai à faire à un hopburn, ou à des houblons qui s’expriment d’une façon très distinguée. A vrai dire, je n’ai pas de ressenti réel en fruits, on a vraiment une dégustation qui reste encrée sur des herbes et du résineux, avec de la profondeur, et on passe entre différentes saveurs, c’est vraiment spéciale. Strange Companion, The Thing that Should not be Rum BA Imperial Dark Ale "You might ask yourselves, as we did, why is there importance in seeing a light in all this dark tumult. We are Strange Companion: we brew time and patience while sapping staves. Expect barrel aged ales and some extra dark enlightened projects." that's how the small romanian gipsy brewery(est. 2021) describe themselves. More info about them still remains a mystery behind the shadows... One thing is for sure, they have released just less than 10 barrel aged beers and they are doing their job extremely good for such a new small brewery! From this dark ale I have tasted both the bourbon and rum version! Great! This one is a very smooth, little bit oily dark ale revealing flavours of toffee, caramel, raisins, fresh baked sweet bread, baked plums, hints of cinnamon, roiboos tee, vanilla and banana esters - all this without being too cloying or sweet. Finishes with plesant brandy/rum/liquour warming notes! 💥 We shared this one during our short stay in Cologne at the cosy @craftbeercorner . Finished with a huge amount of cocoa nibs from Livstory Chocolate and a touch of salt flakes.(Untapped) Blackout, you definitely deserve a place on my radar!💥 Barrel game in the glass! 👌 At first sip, you can taste some chocolate, roasted malts, hints of coffee, ginger bisquits, maybe just a touch of salt. Body is slighly oily, complementing for some soft touches... and then comes the barrel - massive amounts of whisky, some sharp notes, spices, light herbal, boozy barrel notes!
