And then, flipping through a stack of 1950'es Royal Danish Theater programs, I realised that overthinking and being overwhelmed is very much part of the human condition... A booklet with works by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama provided the backgrounds of intricate, ungraspable mind soup. This week, 120 artists of Ukraine came together in a special charity gala at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. These artists were the Ukraine National Presidential Orchestra, the Children’s Folk Ensemble Virskogo, some of Ukraine’s leading opera singers and of course, the United Ukrainian Ballet. This gala was arranged by Kristina Vydoinyk, the wife of Mykhailo Vydoinyk, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Denmark, and Philip Maury to raise funds for the Zelenska Foundation, the charity organisation of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska that aims to help the children of Ukraine who have been affected by the war. The audiences of Copenhagen were presented with two wonderful performance dedicated to the beauty of Ukrainian culture, which has also been threatened by the war. Among those who attended was Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, who has been very vocal in her support for Ukraine. The gala raised nearly two million euros for the Zelenska Foundation, which will help to rebuild the lives of many Ukrainian children. Even though the dark shadow of war continues to loom, the light of Ukraine continues to shine and it will never cease. We all send the biggest of congratulations to all the artists of Ukraine who participated in this incredibly inspirational event and all those who worked very hard to put the gala together. Congratulations to all and we look forward to the next successful achievements in the fight for Ukraine.
