Our anniversary has come and gone, but I wanted to share our wonderful experience. We opted for the @maryculter.house romantic package, which includes an overnight stay with a full Scottish breakfast, homemade sweet treats, a single red rose, helium heart balloons in the room, a bottle of chilled prosecco, and a 3-course dinner at Poachers, all for Β£265. We splurged on a river view room, which made it even more special. We didnβt want any extravagant plans, but we wanted to mark the occasion somehow. If youβre seeking a lovely staycation not too far from home (Aberdeen), I highly recommend it. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious (though I canβt quite recall what we had), and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Itβs definitely something weβd do again. @madformozza this week for some pre-cinema scran. Always a favourite of mine but was keen to check out their new menu. They are now serving up Pinsa Style Pizzas, less crust and they have a really crispy base, thumbs up from me. Usual No 5 for me which was fantastic as per. My mate went for the No 4, which comes with fries on top, he might not be a friend for long if he keeps this type of behaviour up. They now have some new sides on the menu so I had the Crochette Di Patate which were decent, it was served with a spicy mayo which was incredible. Far too much food for four but plenty leftovers for today. Iβm always sceptical when trying a new Chinese but was happy with this one and will 100% be back next time. We got the 14β Munchie Box where you can choose 6 items and a couple of sauces. We had the Salt & Pepper ribs, Salt & Pepper chicken, Salt & Pepper chips, spring rolls, noodles, rice with sweet and sour and BBQ sauce. This on its own was enough to be fair! I would love to give an in depth review but there was a lot of alcohol consumed so the details are a bit hazy! I thoroughly enjoyed my food and everyone else had no complaints. We went across today and it was quality! Big portions, decent price and packed full of flavour. I had the Stir Fried Chicken Satay with Noodles, it was delicious. Unexpected trip to @madformozza yesterday. Was delighted when Mrs Chubb suggested it. Decided to be proper controversial and stray from my usual No 5 and went for a No 12, was very good and the wee pot of tomato and Nduja dip was perfect for mopping up with the crusts! Say hello to @simonsigwines Langbult Steen! This gorgeous wine was previously released under the name 'Chenin avec ChΓͺne', however we think its new name perfectly evokes this wine's sense of place. Chenin Blanc was the first wine bottled under the Simonsig label. This wine reflects that history and is made from the estate's oldest Chenin Blanc vines, planted in 1987 and carefully nurtured by the Malan family for 3 generations. "Langbult" is the name of the vineyard where these gnarly old vines are planted, meaning "long hill". "Steen" is another name for Chenin Blanc, commonly used in South Africa. The hunt for Glasgow's β¨best falafel wrapβ¨ continues... I had actually intended to go to @shawarma_king_glasgow but they were closed for refurb so instead I tried the next place on my list @damasqino_restaurant who specialise in Lebanese cuisine. At just Β£3.50 this falafel wrap was a total bargain! The tasty smells coming from this place are enough to draw you in. I loved that all the bright, vibrant pickles are on display as you walk in the door. They weren't too busy on a Tuesday afternoon so I was served very quickly. This time I got some chilli sauce on my wrap and it definitely added some heat π₯΅πΆοΈ Flatbread - 6/10 standard flatbread, but it was a little bit chewy Falafel - 7/10 flavourful, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, they had a little bit of an oily aftertaste Sauce - 8/10 WOW that chilli sauce packed some heat πΆοΈ unfortunately it meant I couldn't really taste the tahini sauce but I do like a spicy kick Pickles/salad etc. - 10/10 awesome selection of tangy pickles which complimented the wrap perfectly β¨ I mentioned to my partner, who eats meat, that he might want to try here because they have a fantastic selection of grilled meats on the menu and as I said the smells coming out of the restaurant were AMAZING. Wee family trip to @maggiesgrill tonight, a belated birthday meal for me. Iβve not been posting much at all recently as trying be to be healthy so Iβve not had much worth posting. That all changed tonight, as per, Maggieβs knocked it out the park. Massive portions, delicious food and the kids loved it as well. I had the Buffalo burger with poutine fries and some corruption glazed tenders π·! Mrs Chubb had the chilli and the portion was mental, absolutely delicious though.
