Imagine waking up to find your email account hacked and your other accounts compromised. Your life becomes a living nightmare. It can happen to anyone and unfortunately it will continue to happen. If you are a Mac Mail user, you can use Mac Mail to access, write, send and sort G-Mail. Log onto a browser to view G-Mail, the folders (“Labels” in G-Mail) will all be the same, any drafts you are working on will be there as well, plus you might find out that once you get used to the browser, it is a pretty efficient way to email. We do. Well, at least one of us does. The other one lives up on top of Mt. Rokko, where the Cherry Blossoms are in full bloom, even after the bloom is over a few thousand feet down. If you’ve taken photos of the Cherry Blossoms before, then you know they all look the same, and hopefully you’ve uploaded all those photos to Google Photos by now. So all you need to do is go to your photos and search for “Cherry Blossoms” and let the little Google bots find and show you every picture you’ve ever taken of Cherry Blossoms. (English follows Japanese) これは皆さんもいずれ経験する問題とその解決策です： 必要なメールが届かないことがあります。私の場合、子供の登下校を知らせるGPS追跡サービスのメールが届きませんでした。 原因は？おそらく誰かがそのメールをスパムとしてマークしたことで、他のメールサービスがそれを迷惑メール扱いするようになったということでしょう。言ってみれば、レストランに悪い評価をするようなものです。 ところで、G-Suiteをお使いであれば、スパムの対応を決定するAIはご自分で管理出来ます。私も妻もG-Suiteユーザーなので、グーグルサポートへの1回の電話で、そのメールが必ず届くようにすることができました（たとえ他の誰かが知らずに何か不都合なことをしたとしても）。 G-Suiteはビジネスにも、家族にも有効ですね！ Here’s a problem that affects everyone eventually, and the solution: An email you really need to receive doesn’t get to you. In my case, it was the GPS tracking service that tells me when my child arrives and leaves school. The problem? Other people had likely marked the messages as spam, and that unfortunately tells everyone else’s email service that the sender is suspect. It’s like giving a bad review to a restaurant. The good news is that the robots that determine what to do with spam are under your control if you’re a G-Suite customer, and both my wife and I are (she takes it for granted, but that’s OK). One call to Google support, and we created a way to force all emails from the sender we want to get through, no matter what the other oblivious parents may have done. (English follows Japanese) 毎月iCloudストレージに沢山のお金を無駄にしているかも。 本当にどれだけ必要としているのだろうか。予想以上に複雑です。 基本のデータには5GBの無料容量で十分です。その後、写真とバックアップが大きな優先順位となり、両方が関連します。撮る写真が多いほど、バックアップが大きくなるからです。 ここで役立つやり方を教えます。しかし、警告：まずは検証されたバックアップなしでこれをしないで下さい。疑問がある場合は、専門家に連絡して下さい（私たちも手伝う事が出来ます。） Googleのバックアップと同期とフォトを同時に使用すると、すべての写真とビデオがGoogleのクラウドにバックアップされます。これで、iCloudバックアップの設定で、フォトライブラリのバックアップを無効にする事が出来ます。 こうすると以前からストレージ利用がおそらく最初よりずっと減っているはずです。これでiCloudストレージをダウングレードする事が出来る。年間で１万円ほど節約する事になるかも。その上にGoogleを使えば、ビデオをストリーミングする事も出来ます。iCloudによって写真だけに制限される事はありません。 凄くいいでしょう！ You might be wasting a lot of money on iCloud storage every month. Ever wonder how much you really need? It’s more complicated than it should be. The free 5GB is more than enough for the basics. After that, photos and backup are the big priorities, and both are related, because the more pics you take, the larger your backup is. It’s a catch-22. So here’s a cool trick, but first, a warning: do NOT do this without a validated backup. If in doubt, call a professional (we can help). If you use Google Photos with backup and sync on, all your photos and videos will backup to Google’s cloud. Now, under iCloud backup, you can disable photo library backup. Now your storage is probably way below where it was, which means you can probably downgrade iCloud storage, saving as much as ¥10,000 per year. Except now, with Google sync, you’re able to stream your videos too, no longer limited by iCloud to just photos. One great way to deal with paper overload is to use Google Keep. (English following Japanese) いつもAirdropでiPhoneからMacにファイルを転送しているが、今回はうまくいかない。エラーでもない。そこでWifi(無線LAN)とブルートゥースの設定を確認： Wi-Fi？ iPhone：OK Mac：OK ブルートゥース？ iPhone：OK マック： ……… ☠️ ブルートゥースのアイコンの代わりにエラーが：「ブルートゥースがありません。」そのマックはつい最近AppleCareでの修理で、ブルートゥースを含むパーツを交換し、戻って来た所でした。その時点で私が考えることは2つだけです： 1 Instagramに投稿できるように写真を転送する事。 2 Macを修理に出す（再度）。 そこで気付きました。ちょうどグーグルフォトへの切り替えを終えた所でした。必要なのはWebブラウザだけです。ものの数秒で、iPhoneで撮った写真をMacでも出して仕事を継続できました。 さらに良いのは、5〜7日間の修理でMacがない時に、何も移行する必要が無いことです。 Webブラウザさえあれば、Macが無い間も生産的に仕事が出来ます。 I always transfer files from my iPhone to my Mac using Airdrop, but this time it didn’t work. Not even an error. So I checked my Wifi and bluetooth settings: Wifi? iPhone: Check. Mac: Check. Bluetooth? iPhone: Check. Mac: ………. ☠️ Instead of a bluetooth icon there was an error: “Bluetooth missing.” The Mac just came back from AppleCare repair, and the part with bluetooth was replaced. At this point I only care about two things: 1 Transferring those photos so I can post to Instagram. 2 Get my Mac repaired (again). Then I realized: I just finished switching to Google Photos. All I need is a web browser. In seconds I had the photos on my Mac that I had just taken with my iPhone. I was in business. Even better, when I lose my Mac for another 5-7 day repair, I don’t have to migrate anything. Even for Spring, few days are as close to perfection. Katsuyuki Nakagawa @slowlife_lohas director of Nakagawa Juken, coordinates this hanami event every year. His company is expert at helping Japanese and foreign buyers purchase Kominkas. Most of the families at the party found their dream home in Kameoka through his company. (English following Japanese) 最近、あるお客様から起動できない古いMac Proが送られてきました。Macはともかく、ハードドライブに保存されている15年以上分の家族写真を取り戻したいとのことで。 そのお客様から、他に18個のハードドライブも届きました。iPhoneの容量が一杯になる度に移動した結果、そのHDには3ダース以上のiPhoto、Aperture、Apple Photosライブラリの他、数十個のフォルダーがあり、それぞれに数千枚の写真や動画が入っていました。 全部で約3TB（約3000GB）の写真と動画をどうしたかと言うと、全部Googleフォトに安全にアップロードし、そのお客様はiPhone、iPad、Mac、Apple TVやGoogle Chromecastでも、2〜300万枚もの写真の中から、簡単に、どの出来事、顔、場所、何でも、すぐに見付けることが出来るようになりました。 Recently a customer sent us an old Mac Pro that wouldn’t boot up. The Mac didn’t matter, but over 15 years of family photos on the hard drive inside did. She also sent us a brown cardboard box with 18 hard drives with over three dozen iPhoto, Aperture, and Apple Photos libraries, along with dozens of folders, each with thousands of photos and videos exported from her iPhone to free up space every time it filled up. We found almost 3TB (~3000GB) of photos and videos. With your stuff in the Cloud, having more storage becomes more important for things like video editing and graphic design, and not about the basics. When you realize how much the Google Cloud can work for all the data you depend on at work and in life, all of the sudden you’ll see computers and devices differently.
