[ ATTEND OUR SOLO ARTIST WORKSHOPS ] At the festival center on June 8th 11-14 we now exclusively offer the chance to attend two workshops with two of our 2024 exhibiting solo artists, Chloé Milos Azzopardi and Mafalda Rakoš. Get an insight into their approach to working with photography, learn their techniques and create your own photographic project. With Chloé Milos Azzopardi you will be crafting elements to use in your own photographic scenery. You will build your own non-technological device out of natural materials. Once your own natural structure is built, you will take a photo of your work and print it. With Mafalda Rakoš, you are invited to reflect on the notion of entanglement by creating your own photographic portrait. In pairs, you will be creating a portrait of one another, setting the space, selecting the photos and printing them. Additionally, participants will be encouraged to draw on the printed images to convey emotions and thoughts. All participants will come back home with their personal work of art. Making Passengers, has been a huge journey for me and on a number of occasions (more often than not !) I have found myself to be a passenger on this journey looking in from across the room and wondering, "what the hell is going on !" 8 years ago was a trigger point for me and a realisation of my neural diversity that had always been there but until then, dismissed in my mind. It was at this time I wasn't writing any music as I felt I had nothing to give. Then the discovery of modern fingerstyle guitar or percussive guitar, gave me a tiny spark. This spark grew and over the next few months and years became a flame inside me.. This album is a collection of all these experiences over the past 6 years.... It’s called acting honey. That self tape/audition life. 🎬✨ What do you think of AI in music and TV/Film? While doing casting submissions someone showed me software their company uses to generate voiceover and AI music. I was aware of this work but it’s sad when the biggest companies in the world with deep pockets are using it in place of real artists. I’m not completely worried about music as there will always be a need for live performances. I don’t believe it can currently rival the greatest works of time. But I also know people who manage hologram artists. I recently watched a documentary: What Jennifer Did on Netflix. It’s been accused of using uncredited AI generated images to show her in a happy light. It’s seeped into everything. It’s the effect towards the environment and independent artists that concerns me. I personally feel conflicted even having fun with it. I went into modeling, photography/photo editing, and hair/make-up because for me it was escapism from reality. She has been praised by critics for her ‘characterful, involved playing’ and ‘skills and musicianship of a high order’ and has appeared in concert across the United States as well as in Russia, Germany, Eastern Europe, Portugal, and New Zealand, where she lived for a decade after marrying her husband, who is originally from New Zealand. Having maintained a teaching studio since the age of 18, she enjoys teaching students of all levels. (on the left) Xiting Yang is a pianist who fundamentally values expressivity and communication in performance. As an active concert performer, Yang regularly plays a wide variety of music as both soloist and collaborator. A devoted teacher, Dr. Yang has worked with many successful piano students, helping them over time to find their unique artistic voices. She frequently appears as an invited guest artist at prominent music festivals such as the Palmetto International PianoFestival as well as serving as Artist Faculty at the Montecito International Music Festival and Atlantic Music Festival.
