It has officially been a year since Walt Disney World's Splash Mountain closed for good at the Magic Kingdom, so to commemorate the occasion, here are some photos from my favorite moment during the attraction's final day of operation. For context, the photos you are looking at are of the original entrance to Splash's queue. Starting on the right side of the 50-foot drop, this path snuck around the side of the mountain and gave guests an outside view of the first lifthill. This portion of the queue closed shortly after the attraction's opening, and in the mid-2000s, the Br'er Frog audio-animatronic figure, which greeted guests after they left the load station, was moved from his spot at the foot of the first lifethill, to highway up it. Where am I going with this? Well, stay with me now. On the morning of Splash Mountain's final day, the rope that blocked guests from going down this path was gone, and many people (including myself) were taking trips out of curiosity. What I stumbled upon was not only a view of the first lifthill, but also an extremely rare view of the backside of Br'er Frog! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure 🐸 🌊 🐸 🌊 🐸 🌊 🐸 🌊 🐸 🌊 🐸 🌊 🐸 🌊 • BIG update coming from Disney today regarding Splash Mountain’s announced “reimagining”. There’s a whole article about it that can be found on Disney Parks Blog. But in short… Splash Mountain will be renamed to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and it’s scheduled to open in late 2024. This new ride is of course inspired by the Disney film “The Princess and the Frog, and Imagineers have been making frequent visits to Louisiana as well as conducting extensive research to ensure that the ride “preserves the heart and soul of the city that inspired Princess Tiana’s story”. If you’re curious as to the storyline, this ride will pick up where the film left off. You will join Tiana, Prince Naveen, and Louis as they traverse through the bayou in preparation of a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration. What I find interesting here is that there will also be original music for this attraction. Which is something to keep an eye out for as we draw closer to the opening later on. Soooo I haven't been on Splash Mountain in YEARS...same as my stepdad. Ive had the pass since 2011 and my reason is because I hate drops lol...like seriously hate them😱. My mom and boyfriend have never been on so we decided to finally go on it lol. We decided to make it our last ride of the night....although it was fun....we were hella cold lol. The tram ride back to the parking lot was very very cold lol. My poor boyfriend was soaked haha.
