Goofy dressed in his finest western wear for Mickey’s Backyard BBQ in 1998 in Fort Wilderness. We did this a couple times when my daughter was age 4 and 6. It was a great experience both times. She had one on one experiences with the characters. Buffet food was great, personally I loved the corn on the cob, fried chicken, watermelon, and beer. Cyclone Sally and Tumbleweed Will were sort of the hosts. Before we entered the hall we had pictures with them and Sally told us funny stories appropriate to make a 4 year old giggle and laugh. This is the LeFou’s Brew from Gaston’s Tavern, to be honest, it was just okay. We paid $1808 for 2 WDW DVC Annual Passes. A few minutes ago, I changed our June Pop Century reservation to Wilderness Lodge. Here is why. Wilderness Lodge Standard Price $4204. Price with 35% Passholder discount $2705. That is a savings of $1498, which justifies the price of the Annual Passes. We are moving on up the resort chain in just 43 days. When Sage comes to town, there’s always a meal @homecominfl ❤️❤️ We started off with the Thigh High Chicken Biscuits and Addie Mae’s Chicken and Dumpling Soup, but we were so hungry we didn’t get any pictures 😂😂 I tried the Baby Back Ribs which were fall of the bone perfection 🤩 beautiful smoky flavor and the sauce was just right. Sage’s dad had The Art Burger, a double stack on a brioche bun, dressed with lettuce, tomato, onion and a delicious tomato bacon jam. Sage gave the Hot Chicken Sandwich a try, and it was the only miss during this outing. The “Buffalo style” sauce had no heat no vinegar, with just the overwhelming taste of tomato paste 😞 There’s never any room for dessert, but maybe one day we’ll try that Hummingbird Cake. Oh, also if you’d like you can substitute the listed sides for something else on the list. During the late 1980s when Michael Eisner was still new at Disney and looking for ways to expand the company. A few years before The Living Seas had opened at EPCOT Center to compete with Sea World and now Universal was opening a new park. Michael Eisner liked the proposed Great Movie Ride for the show business pavilion for EPCOT Center’s Future World West so much that he decided to build an entirely new park around it, Disney’s MGM Studios. In the original plans, when the ride was going to be at Epcot, it was going to have the name “Great Moments at the Movies”. The Great Movie ride actually used a ride system very similar to the Universe of Energy attraction at EPCOT Center. The ride was a specular 22 minute ride through the movies including: Footlight Parade, Singin’ in the Rain, Mary Poppins, The Public Enemy, Clint Eastwood and John Wayne westerns, Alien, Indiana Jones, horror films, Tarzan, Casablanca, Fantasia, and The Wizard of Oz. Unfortunately, The Great Movie Ride closed on August 13, 2017 and in 2020 was replaced by the uncreative Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. °•° Here are some fun facts about The Great Movie Ride: •In the Indiana Jones scene, there was a wall of hieroglyphics; on that wall were pictures of Donald and Mickey and well as C3PO and R2D2. •The Fantasia scene almost wasn’t in the ride. It was originally intended to be the tornado scene from The Wizard of Oz, hence the blowing wind however, due to a contractual agreement with MGM, Disney could only use two scenes from the movie instead of three. •If you had a B show (the gangster scene, the car’s license plate was 021-429, a reference to the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre on February 14, 1929. •A well-known fact is that the plane in the Casablanca scene was cut in half; the back part of the plane is still visible today at Magic Kingdom on The Jungle Cruise.
