What’s photography without experimenting? I actually set out the morning this photo was taken in hopes I could find a seascape to turn dreamy. Normally my photos are vibrant with contrast, but this edit took an opposite turn. Let me know what you think about it!
The crazy part about this photo is that at first all I saw was red. My immediate thought was there’s no way there’s a shark right there that ate a meal. Then I saw the other colors 😅. The last big storm we had with crazy waves, I was unfortunately at work all day. I got very lucky to be going into work later on Wednesday so I could drive around Rhode Island to see what a storm can bring to the coast! 🌊🌈

Last night’s Geminid meteor shower was amazing. Large bright fireballs in the sky, up to 120 per hour. Rhode Island’s clear night sky was the perfect backdrop for it. This photo features our winter Milky Way view, specifically the Orion Nebula complex. It’s not smiling at you, that is Banard’s Loop. This was shot in Ha-RGB. H-alpha is a specific deep-red visible spectral line with a wavelength of 656nm. It’s not often you go to a restaurant and feel like you’ve witnessed art. @charlestown_rathskeller is absolutely one of the best gems in South County for good eats! From the impeccable food thanks to Executive Chef, Wayne “Butch” Bush, to the artfully infused drinks thanks to Bar Manager and Lead Mixologist, Jill Fonnemann, we were blown away course after course. Somehow, Butch and Jill kept topping themselves after each round. Let’s start at the top… Course #1: the Crispy Brussel Sprouts had a blend of apple, citrus soy, and toasted sesame that made your entire mouth delight. The burrata and house focaccia blended roasted tomatoes, basil, EVOO, and balsamic into a fresh and savory bite. The Backyard Basil Lemonade is a total drink of summer goodness of muddled strawberries, fresh basil, house made lemonade, and Tito’s vodka. You’d think nothing can top all this… Until course #2 happened! A refreshing pressed watermelon rosé sangria served with nachos and Rathskeller’s Famous Giant Pretzel made us feel like we were in ultimate comfort food heaven. Then, course #3 went and impressed us again with an 8oz burger made to perfection with the Famous Rathskeller fresh cut French fries, all paired with an out-of-this-world guava mango margarita (silver tequila, mango purée, guava nectar, triple sec, fresh squeezed lime juice). Course #4 took us even further into heaven: seared scallops with asparagus and risotto, and Jagerschnitzel, crispy fried pork cutlet with mushroom gravy, garlic mashed potatoes and braised red cabbage with apples. All this paired with a tasty Draft beer - Tilted Barn Chosen One, and a Purple Rain, Butterfly pea flower-infused gin, elderflower liqueur, house-made lavender simple syrup, and house-made lemonade (like tasting a delicious fresh summer garden). A little after dinner Reposado espresso martini will feel like the perfect light digestif dessert of summer. The Charlestown Rathskeller is a local gem and staple, for summer outdoor fun with tons of live music, bocce, and corn hole, to cozy indoor spaces to meet and drink and dine. A must try, a must local favorite to return to again and again.
