My first real attempt on the Pleiades and pushing the @moveshootmove rotator past its limits! π¬ I didn't think this was gonna be doable (and it's not recommended if you value the warranty!) but here is the result of 65mins worth of exposure on M45 at 300mm I only ended up binning around 20 exposures and 10 of those were due to a telegraph cable getting in the way! The lens is a pretty lightweight one but I still don't advise putting that much torque on the gears due to the length. However, the little box came through and delivered a far better image that I thought was possible on such modest gear. Great to connect with this group from @lightsoutLitchfield and National Parks at Night for a little stargazing at Blacksod Lighthouse the other night! All the way from the USA in search of the darkest skies (and the best monastries, castles and ruins to photograph) they are spending some time on the Wild Atlantic Way and very much enjoying all that Mayo has to offer. Ecotourism is so valuable to rural areas like the Mullet Peninsula, and Dark Skies enthusiasts are welcome anytime. They already adhere to Leave-No-Trace principles, have low impact hobbies like astrophotography and stargazing, and they can enjoy public spaces long after families have gone home. Star Party Etiquette: π¨ Red or amber flashlights only should be used. These colors help preserve our dark vision and white flashlights should have a red cover over them. No flashing lights on shoes or clothes please. π Be mindful of the volunteerβs telescopes. Please do not bring dogs on a leash into the telescope area. π§₯ Dress for cool weather, the night is cooler than you think. Outdoor activities will be cancelled in case of rain. Building owners, businesses, developers, and homeowners can help protect migrating birds by turning off all non-essential nighttime lighting on structures from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each night. Lighting Guidelines for EVERYONE: 1) Turn off all non-essential lights from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each night during migration season. 2) Do not use landscape lighting to light up trees or gardens where birds may be resting. 3) Close blinds at night to reduce the amount of light being emitted from windows.
