Ballast resistors for the trailer lights mounted on a heat sink inside the junction box. Unfortunately the cluster uses the same LEDs for brake and tail lights and the car detects this as a short circuit and faults out the brake lights. I can't find a resistor plus diode solution that tricks the car correctly but I could come up with a relay based fix. However the whole point of the LEDs was to improve reliability and this isn't heading in that direction so I'm just going back to incandescent and the car bulb warning system will at least still work. Having the new bulb clusters mounted higher and more robustly should improve things over what was fitted originally. #notfinishedyet #DIY #tinkering #fixit #takingwaylongerthanithought
