I have Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer. There’s no cure…yet. I had a blood marrow transplant 1 year ago. That is going to help me prolong my life….for a long time. I’m doing well and have beat this cancer twice already. Losing my hair hurt my heart. I ran that comb through and it all came out. I was devastated. Everyone has been asking what happened to our son. Here is a shorter run down of why we are in the hospital and will be for a while. Almsot two weeks ago he came down with a fever. I thought it was typical cold/flu. I doctored him at home and started noticing this wasn’t normal. His fever was 102-105 for 6 days! Day 3 I took him to urgent care, then the ER that night, and I was sent home with Tylenol. Day 5 back to the Pediatrician and then from there straight to ER again. I noticed he had meningitis symptoms . I voiced that concern at ER where they agreed and did a spinal tap. It came back negative, and they sent us home. By the next day he was extremely sick so I called UC Davis and spoke to a doc and they said “get here now!” Reid and I ran down to sac where we have been ever since! After numerous Scans, and tests, and one surgery so far on the ear. He has a sever middle ear infection, mastoiditis in the bone, and his menges (the protective membrane between the skull and brain) is infected and inflamed. He has a PICC line placed for long term direct Iv antibiotics. We will be in the hospital for a while. Monday he has a hearing test to see if he lost his hearing. He’s had some issues with one leg not looking like it’s working properly. Due to the infection and swelling in that part of the brain it affected a bit of his walk. PT will be in to work with him on that. We caught the early stages of meningitis. His stayed around the brain and never went down the spine. Had I not rushed to UC Davis he would’ve only had about 2 days left before it turn catastrophic. We have a long road ahead but should make full recovery. Thank you to the two little punks who hit me over 16 months ago and caused thousands of dollars of damage to my new bronco, left me with on going medical bills and problems, never got caught and never have had to blink an eye at the other six accidents you caused that day. That day I walked away from my accident, Shelby was fine and a new chapter started in my life. After a horrible summer my gp and Sheila Gibbins-Wardlow were able to get me into osf neurologist in November after iowa city only had an opening for September of this year. I learned about sleep, elements of hydration, working out and how it is beneficial for the brain. Creatine and the benefits for the brain. I have had months of physical therapy and dry needling. I was rescheduled by iowa city ,who I was going to use for a second opinion, for another ten months for now . So I asked to be out of their system since I like both of my neurologist and what we have done so far. I have had scans, I have bulging discs, basically a straight neck. I spend a lot of times outdoors, I am more straight forward and honest than ever before, I say no more, and will walk away and sent boundaries more. I want to thank those two little jerks because of you God took all of this and truly showed me all the good my job can do for people. #MomentOfHonesty, it's been a long time since I've made a new episode. It's things like this that keep me from making content. The simplicity and elegance of this plating make me feel like I'm wasting time. I tried really hard not to compare myself to anyone else and just make my show, but even someone as ground as I am, I got got by the demon of comparison. Because my show didn't look as good as *insert big network show and social media content maker alike*, I felt pressured to up my game. I went from buying a $1100 phone to shoot with to buying $2500 in camera equipment and a $2000 computer so that I had the best possible equipment to work with, all for it to look worse. It was a real blow to my ego to have all the right ingredients and still have it suck. I wagered a month's salary and slaved for weeks door dashing after work to make sure my bills got paid, all for my end product to look worse than when I shot from my phone. I retreated from shooting; I even retreated from cooking. #ComparisonIsTheThiefOfJoy. I am making my way back to my joy. When I get there, I will begin filming again.
