After a battle with mice, the music gradually softens, seems like leaving only Clara and the Nutcracker in whole world. The scene is so touching when they dance together under a huge Christmas tree. I’ve noticed that each company has its own version, but most of their choreography isn’t purely classical. Grishko is a ballet brand from Russia. They are not only make pointe shoes, they also offer many beautiful leotards and other ballet item. I wore the “2007” and “2007 pro” models before. However, once I found the “Nova pro”, I really loved it!!! This model with a U-shaped medium vamp and wider platform that’s a perfect fit for my foot shape. One more extra bonus is the special material in the toe area that reduces noise. Pointe shoes is our best friend for all ballerinas. Finding the perfect shoes can take time, but you can find them one day!! 💁🏻‍♀️𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐞 1️⃣ My favourite ballet repertoire -✨𝔾𝕚𝕤𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕖✨ “Giselle” is a romantic love story between Giselle and Prince Albrecht. The two-act ballet repertoire transitions from a cheerful village scene to a somber forest grave scene. I believe Giselle is a challenging role because she expresses different emotions throughout the story. In Act 1, she experiences the joy of simple and pure love for Albrecht. However, after she realizes that Albrecht is engaged to another woman, Giselle is shocked and heartbroken until she dies. Act 2 is the most difficult part for the corps de ballet. They were the ghostly spirits of Giselle and danced in the dark forest. All dancers should be in sync, including the angle of the head or leg, and each breath should be taken together to make it more amazing. I had the opportunity to perform a Giselle repertoire for a school showcase before. I was so glad to be one of them and I really enjoyed it. Check it out in my story. 🩰 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐞 Miss Hailey graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts with a Bachelor (Hons) of Fine Arts Degree in Dance, majoring in Ballet in 2017. During her studies, she received several scholarships, among which she won a 100% Summer Intensive Programme Scholarship to attend Vasilliev Andrew’s Classical Ballet School in New York. During her school years, Hailey had the opportunity to work with different renowned choreographers such as “The Inheritance of Form” by Cameron McMillan (UK), “Partenope” by Iratxe Ansa (Spain), “A Gentle Squeeze” by Sergei Vanaev (Russia), and “Le Classique” by Ou Lu, Stella Lau, Minhua Zhao (China). She received several awards in local and international competitions, including the Gold Award in The 43rd Open Dance Contest, Bronze Award in The 10th Young Ballet Star Award, Top 8 in Star of Canaan Dance International Ballet Competition, and Semi-Finalist in Genée International Ballet Competition 2014 (Antwerp). After graduating from HKAPA, Hailey became a dedicated ballet teacher based in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, she choreographed numerous pieces for students to participate in competitions and performances. Also, Hailey has continued her advanced studies and obtained certifications such as RAD registered teacher and PBT Certification level 1. Nicole Pillon is an alumnus of Canada’s National Ballet School (Teacher Training Program), where she received her teaching diploma. She holds a BFA in Dance from York University and her registered teachers status from the Royal Academy of Dance. She has also completed the Advanced 1 ISTD National and Advanced 1 Cecchetti exams and comes with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Nicole is an in-demand ballet teacher across the GTA and we are so excited to have her work with the students again this season at THE BALLET LAB!

Ms. Pereira’s repertoire includes The Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Lise in La Fille mal gardée, Katerina in The Taming of the Shrew, Spring in The Four Seasons, the title role in Carmen, Perditia and Young Shepherdess in The Winter’s Tale, Le Serpent in Le Petit Prince as well as lead roles in Symphony in C, Monotones I, In The Upper Room and Chroma, and many more! In 2007, Ms. Pereira won The Seventh International Competition for The Erik Bruhn Prize and was invited to perform Prokofiev Pas de Deux at the New York debut of Morphoses. Tanya Howard was born in Uitenhage, South Africa and trained at The National School of the Arts in South Africa and Canada’s National Ballet School. Ms. Howard’s repertoire includes feature roles in Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, Giselle, Don Quixote, The Taming of the Shrew, Les Sylphides, Chroma, and many more. Ms. Howard was awarded the David Tory Award, and was awarded the William Marrié Award for Dramatic Excellence for her role as the Queen of Hearts in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland in 2011. We can’t wait to have Tanya Howard back in the lab with us this summer!
