After the spotty teenager saves up enough money to get a new MK3 Golf GTI, the Nova either gets crushed or banger raced, sound familiar? However some lucky novas escape this ill-fated lifestyle, this one being one of them, enthusiast owned, this Nova seems to be being taken good care of, it’s ok a healthy 74,000 miles as of its last MOT earlier this year and of the 16 total tests it’s had, it’s only failed 3, not bad at all for a car that’s 31 years old! 1987 Fiat Panda Sisley 4x4 If you know me, I’m an avid fan of old Fiats, especially the ones from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. This Panda 4x4 is certainly up there as one of my favourites! A portrait of dear Moh earlier in the month, the portrait was made during a chat in his home, but the main expression caught here reflects the mood of Van Saga. Next slide is Imi on one of our trips to the pound trying to free Dougie the van over Christmas. That was part of his thank you card in December, after we got him away from the auction (with my climbing equipment still in the back). Dougie is not registered as ULEZ compliant even though he is. After 6 months I have received some less auto replies, as if it's the first time I've written in about this, not the fiftieth. DVLA, TFL and Marston seem to have gaps between the interdependent relationship, which are easy to drop things in. The more I learn, the more unbelievable this becomes. Several significant technical failings, including preventing my payments (which I shouldn't have been making) going through, none of them my side. No apology but instead offers of payment to scap the van (or send it to Ukraine) via scrapage scheme, which I didn't believe would be fulfilled - when prompting by email (with my MP and a journalist cc'd in) my suspicians were confirmed. A suggestion I send the vehicle logbook to TFL arrived, after I had reluctantly sent it to DVLA - so I currently don't have this essential van owner document, and so on and so on. An unexpected gain is my ability to wait in phone queues has become better than I could have hoped. I'm also enjoying being kind to people manning the phones when finally getting through, even if it's been hours and futile; to make up for when I was in the midst of it all and frustrated. It's like balm for the brain when they are nice back and we reduce suffering / humiliation the systems we are caught in can bring. Van Saga was about 20% of this portrait subject chatter.After drawing and catching up, we ate delicious food.
