Derek the Belfast postie. He was snapped by a press photographer (unknown?) back in 2001 out delivering mail in Ardoyne amid the Holy Cross dispute. I always liked this shot - the normality in an abnormal situation. I spotted him the other day. 23 years later and he's still posting letters through the doors of Ardoyne. I photographed him roughly in the same spot as the first image. Thankfully whenever I was in the post, I had an easier round than Derek!!

I've photographed many of these anti-protocol rallies but last night's one was one of the more unusual ones. Ann Widdecombe, a devout Roman Catholic, giving it welly to a packed Orange Hall in County Down. She began by saying, "Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Incase you didn't know it, I'm a Roman Catholic and I'm here tonight in an Orange Hall." To which someone from the crowd shouts out, "Ye must he born again." Extra chairs had to be brought in as crowds flocked to hear Jim Allister, Ben Habib, Ann Widdecombe, and Kate Hoey voice their opposition to the Northern Ireland protocol. Reform UK have recently announced a partnership with the TUV. The meeting ended with the singing of the national anthem. In an ever-changing UK, as society is becoming more polarised, new alliances are being formed.

This is "Kavi" holding his father's shirt. Kavi's parents were separated and his father had moved abroad.
