Another bespoke commission successfully completed🙌🏾👏🏾. This is the Anubis, a jackal-headed deity who presided over the embalming process and accompanied dead kings in the afterworld. Anubis was an extremely ancient deity whose name appears in the oldest mastabas of the Old Kingdom and the Pyramid Texts as a guardian and protector of the dead, who watched over the whole process and ensured that the weighing of the heart was conducted correctly. He then led the innocent on to a heavenly existence and abandoned the guilty. I was commissioned to make this piece by the Poet RUNAKO, who has just released a video on YouTube called KARMA where the piece was featured. Here we have a 9ct white gold pair of wedding rings I made maybe 10yrs or more ago, for my cousin. I made them by laying 1.5mm thin wax strips over one another in a crisscrossing pattern to create the top half’s. I then carved a thin plain band for the bottom half and fit them prior to casting. Once cast, hallmarked and polished, they were sent to be rhodium plated:- the big ring was plated on the outside edges, leaving the inside of the crisscrossing pattern in its natural gold colour. The small ring was plated on the inside leaving the outside edges of the crisscross pattern in it natural colour. The outcome was subtle but very effective, if i do say so myself.
