@blackenedroseofficial are so versatile indeed as they perform a set of songs for the Sunday night. They also open up with performing hard rock, goth metal and symphonic metal while they balance between each style across each song. @naomgnome 's synth and keys work always mesmerises me as she metaphorically takes me to mountainous landscapes through music. Everytime @iagunkov flicks his hair up quick nowadays, I do the same in response. A cue in one of the songs had him screaming, something I never heard yet. This is effective in showcasing what else Aleksei can do across each show in terms of vocal delivery. I decided to observe @payajebelli as I think this is my first time seeing him in a leather jacket. His eyes closing is common as he drifts off into his world of bass tones and riffs. Thus, his headbanging also highlights his getting into the music. @erickplaysmusic is very passionate with how he conveys his guitar riffs, tones, techniques and also phrasing. @juanbaratto also maintains his consistency on drumming execution and facial expressions when he's into it. For this set, it's all originals and no covers so the crowd know that the band has something ready to rock and roll. An interesting cue I've noticed is Aleksei and Paya playing rock paper scissors while Erick beautifully phrases each arpeggio and sweep picks for the intro, which is very unique. This shows that the band members are active with little games and activities before the actual set starts. Amidst the sinking Sun which opens up way for the early evening, @we_are_marvell drove along a metaphoric road filled clean guitar/bass riffs, drumwork with substance and vocal projections which are worth following along. They evoke the feeling of classic Aussie rock where we are in a pub, socialising with a group of friends, and we all get to sing along to their discography catalogue (songs they performed in this set). The guitar solos also have passion put when it comes to the whammy pedal, which further evokes the need to get into AUS Rock music more. Hence, their Newtowner Pale Ale cans also add to the set as they showcase. Their third last song in the set where everyone got up to dance and boogie heavily regarded the 12 bars blues jam, which indicates the Aussie music spirit being alive and fully well. Also they bring garage rock up a level as they make them catchy and worth the replay value. On a side note, it's great to watch the Sun go down as their set progressed to give a feeling of transitioning time. Therefore, Marvell rocks out Leichhardt with passionate enthusiasm which makes them a band you should look out for. @charlilucasmusic has a versatile range of songs across the 45 minutes of her set. Her indie rock and a bit of post grunge has lyric content which deals with breakfast and luv, to name a few. MARZ is on the list; one notable thing about this song live here is the synth is much louder. Normally it's quieter when you're in indoors; as she and her accompanying band performed outdoors, it was very clear and Sunny through the foldback. No doubt, the catchy chorus and synth has left me with wanting to listen to the studio version once i got home. Cigarette Breath is back as the first song of the list, though Luv Sux is about to get stuck in my head thanks to the very catchy choruses worth belting out should you go to any of her future shows. Anthem For Loners is the last song of her set as she performs very energetically. Her enthusiasm and passion is what makes her fans and audience want to see her again. Her hand movements when she's on the mic stand is strongly conveyed which puts emphasis for you to pay attention to her slick and nimble performance. Charli also played it cool by wearing a hat for the entire performance which protected her from the Sun. It can get easy to lose track of time due to the concentration the band members have. However, their soulful clean guitar/synth tones, funky/smooth bass, crisp vocals and rhythm-consistent drumwork makes their set an interesting one to observe and take note of if you're a fan of music theory. Although a betting game occurred metres apart, considering it was ANZAC Day, they didn't get distracted by the constant shouting of the MC. In fact, their psychedelic genre will put your mind into their music live. @nla_band Moshpit Bar 16/5/2023 When I saw the guys at LABEL Brookvale months later, I knew I had seen familiar faces as they matched to what I remember from this show. NLA are Tommy on lead guitar/BV, Vivec on rhythm guitar/vocalist and Chris on bass/BV and James on drums. Seeing James in their 14/1/2024 Duke gig has reaffirmed to me that this is NLA. They're best known for C# tuning hard rock and post grunge tunes best exemplified with their live performances. For this performance, I was glad to stay back as I was properly photographing for an artist with his accompanying band before NLA went up. With at least one show a month, I would highly recommend seeing them to get the first hand experience.
