1970s Grey Wool Suit By Windsmoor! Size Uk 8 32/34” bust, skirt has a 26” waist. This is just so sleek and very good quality as the name Windsmoor denotes and judging by the label format on this it is 1970’s. Made from a steel grey wool in a warm weight, this would look fabulous with boots. The fitted jacket has some really nice details, starting with the fabulous penny round collar. It fastens centre front with five buttons, there are actually only four bound buttonholes, the top button is faux and if fastened to the top it is done using a hidden button and loop under the collar. Wonderful curved panels with princess seaming accentuate the shape, slanted pockets to each hip. The back panel is peplum styled, again with top stitching. The long sleeves taper into the cuff, I find that’s the 1970’s found a lot of its fashion inspiration from the deco era. The jacket is fully lined. Heavily Worn 1959 Pattern Denison Smock Commonly called the “second print” of the 1959 Denisons by collectors, this one dates to around 1962 from what I can see on the label (it is very faded), and was probably manufactured by “J. Mandelberg & Co. Ltd.” This one has previously used by a Para, and outlines of wings and DZ flashes are present. A replacement OPTI zipper has been put on this smock and I believe it to be a period repair. Unfortunately someone has used this for what looks to be WW2 reenactment as there is seems to have been airborne battledress insignia on it at one point. What am I thinking?!!!! But some things are just too good to wait, and this gorgeous double breasted, plaid trench coat is one of them. Designed by Hylan Booker for Windsmoor in the 1970s this really is a thing of beauty. For anyone that’s interested Hylan Booker was a contemporary of Ossie Clark and winner of the Yardley designer of the year award in 1967 who went on to become head designer at the House of Worth. Well worth a listen to @dressed_podcast !
