So my husband bought me this book last year and I figured with the movie coming out and it being the Halloween season it was time to finally read it lol. Thinking perhaps I would enjoy helping kids learn. After my initial co-op I'd realize I was assisting kids that were definitely far too close to my own age at the time and even though I could connect with them on certain levels it was hard to dissociate myself from being an adult ๐คฃ. I think after I had switched career paths that I had given up the idea of teaching, not realizing that I would trace my way back to that eventually with the workshops that I was doing at Purely Wicked. It's funny how you start out on One path thinking it's just not the one for you and yet somehow it weaves back into you. I wonder if this is the case for all teachers. But I will say 100% without a doubt that they are certainly a special breed of person. Teaching as rewarding as it can be can be also extremely draining! I think a lot of times people forget how much time and energy teachers need to put into a program before they even have students sitting in front of them. I certainly would never be able to sit in front of a group of people talking about English all day, however like Sophie I have no doubt I could talk your ear off about lunar alignment ,crystals and art ๐, as her and I have been chatting about that most of the day. She's been presently trying to teach her pet spider about the solar system however I'm not entirely sure Webster understands what she's trying to get across at all.
