I admit, I didn’t know her story (only the Italian football club 😅), and I made a superb literary discovery with this feminist retelling. Atalanta, abandoned at birth in the mountains by her father because she’s a girl, saved by a bear and raised under the goddess Artemis’ eye, grows up into a unparalleled huntress in her sacred forest. Joining the Golden Fleece quest aboard the Argo, the only woman among a big band of famous Heroes, she will have to make her place. I think this book is awesome, I knew I’d love it within 10 pages. It’s very well written, I was immersed into the story, by Atalanta’s side in the woods or on the Argo. It’s a blend of ancient myths and more actual themes, without ever losing it human heart and humanity. Saint created an inspiring and poignant heroin, a woman who had a remarkable life, from a lesser-known legend to lend her the prestige she deserves, among way too many and actually mediocre men. Atalanta is as grand and powerful as those whose name are more familiar to us, aptly named since “equal in strength”. She’s a complex and forgotten face of Greek mythology when her story echoes and will always echo women's in this society of men. I really enjoyed discovering this myth through this angle, as much as the author. It’s brilliant, feminist, mesmerizing, moving, weaving several myths within a strong heroin’s life. Recommandation du jour ! 💯 Dans le cadre d'un club de lecture le choix du livre s'est portée sur "Ni Dieux ni monstres" de @cadwellturnbull publié aux @edlatalante et traduit par Marie Surgers. ✒️ Résumé de l'histoire par l'éditeur: Un triste mois d’octobre, Laina apprend la mort de son frère Lincoln, abattu par la police de Boston. Perdue dans son deuil, elle reçoit la vidéo du meurtre. La révélation est un choc : Lincoln était un lycanthrope et c’est sur un monstre qu’a tiré le policier. Les monstres existent. Et ils veulent que le monde le sache. Les événements s’emballent alors. Pour cette meute de loups-garous qu’on tente de faire taire. Pour ce professeur piégé par une société secrète, occulte. Pour ces personnes qui disparaissent sans laisser de traces. Pour cet enfant qui découvre ses pouvoirs. Pour ces manifestants à la conquête de nouveaux droits civiques. 📖 Mon avis: Pas de suspens, j'ai beaucoup aimé ce roman. Il est poignant et dépasse le simple cadre de l'imaginaire. Les personnages ont tous leur part sombre et la narration peut au premier abord surprendre mais cette plume incisive m'a beaucoup touché et accroché. Les sujets sensibles sont traités autant avec délicatesse que de manière tranchante. A mettre dans toutes les mains même celles non initiées aux Litteratures de l'imaginaire. A noter la belle couverture soft touch et des beaux effets de fabrication à voir en librairie car la photo d'une version numérique ne peut le rendre 😂. 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Atalante Coupe This supercharged Type 57, 57788, was delivered to munitions manufacturer M. Darne in Paris, just prior to Christmas 1938. It is believed to have spent the war years stored in an underground concrete tank, in Darne's backyard. In 1955 it was sold by Parisian dealer Francis Mortarini to Australian Henry Dale, and made its way down under. It passed through a couple of owners locally, including Bugatti historian Bob King, before being purchased by the current owner over 50 years ago. En tant qu' #helléniste, j'ai juste un reproche : l'auteure ne cite pas ses sources, se cite elle-même !, collant des extraits de ses célèbres Feuilletons parus chez Bayard jeunesse. Donc on n'a qu'une version, la sienne, qui parfois "remplit les vides" des sources anciennes à sa façon. Néanmoins, ceci n'est pas un #essai mais plutôt une œuvre de #divulgation, donc ce léger manque de rigueur dans la méthode n'est pas très gênant. Jueves de #TBT Uno de los tantos Bugattis que estuvieron en Venezuela🇻🇪 En este post hablaremos del Type 57S Coupé Atalante 1937 de las cuales solo se fabricaron 43 unidades y se presume que llegaron dos al país. El de las imágenes llegó en la década de los 50 a Caracas y compartió garaje con otro Bugatti Type 35C propiedad del fallecido empresario Peter Bottome dónde se vio por varios años en eventos y calles de la ciudad capital. A mediados de los 80 fue exportado de Venezuela con rumbo a Estados Unidos. El último registro que se tiene fue en agosto del 2017 en el stand de Bugatti en el Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, en California. Un carro que su precio actual ronda los 10 millones de dólares y uno de los Bugattis más lindos de la historia😍 Cómo dijimos a principio del post, se dice que llegaron dos unidades a Venezuela pero no encontramos registro fotográfico de la otra unidad que era de color gris...
