Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon Part 1 tries hard to be his version of Star Wars while trying to be original but it’s hard not to see the comparisons between the two. I admire Zack Snyder’s work and his commitment to a story but sometimes there needs to be an executive or producer to just tap him on the shoulder and say ‘I don’t think this is for you mate’. This film is great visually, the CGI, the action sequences, the cinematography are all great but you need to engage your audience with more than that. That’s where Zack’s writing lets him down. The plot just has no substance. There’s not real character development, no means for the motives of the protagonists. I just felt lost as to where it was leading. The use of the slow mo frames were way overused. It got to a stage where I think Zack was like, it looks cool, let’s keep it. I just felt it wasn’t necessary. Albeit the story was bland, the performances by Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Ed Skrein and Michiel Huisman were really impressive. As much as I tried to like this film, I just struggled to become engaged with it but did admire the effort put in. Spawn Review: Genres: Black Metal, Death Metal Year of Release: 1992 Rating: 8.7/10 Favorites: Kathaarian Life Code, Where Cold Winds Blow “A Blaze in the Northern Sky” Despite following the strictly Death Metal debut, Darkthrone’s A Blaze in the Northern Sky is by far a feat that still follows their roots in extreme metal as a whole, but in a vastly different palate. The whole sound of every track on this LP is Death Metal, but mixed to the point of sounding very akin to Black Metal. The riffs are amazing, no doubt about it, thinking the style was a near 50-50 of the styles on here, it’s weird, but nothing too far off. The album is classified as a classic in the Black Metal scene, and I wholeheartedly agree, the writing is a key part for many bands to come. The raw, yet fulfilling nature of this record pulls no stops in terms of getting to a macabre state. By far the selling point on A Blaze in the Northern Sky is the sheer harshness, and the previously adjacent style of Death Metal being implemented ever so slightly. Kathaarian Life Code is a 10 minute raw Black Metal epic, in which the majority of the runtime I spent with a very noticeable stank face. This track excels at being aggressive, and fulfilling. In the Shadow of the Horns is perhaps the most Death Metal track on here, the riffs are chunky, and the acoustic ending is great. Paragon Belial is grandiose in terms of being a dissonant hellscape. Where Cold Winds Blow is chaos combined with excellent songwriting, the batshit crazy passages, and the everlasting growls, that for some reason are much more savage, combine to make piercing ear candy. The title track is a bit more groovy, the drums make it oddly danceable, and fun. The Pagan Winter is great on its own, but was it necessary to recycle the dark ambient intro and put it at the end of the track? Whatever, this album rocks. Green Day - Dookie (1994) A genre defining masterpiece, Green Day’s major-label debut was a smashing success with the release of Dookie. Immortalized as one of the pioneering records in the pop-punk vein of modern rock, this record is extraordinarily energetic and home to some of the mid 90’s most memorable punk anthems. This record was far ahead of its time, remaining a wildly enjoyable listen from front to back even 30 years after its initial release. Its grimy yet simplistic chord progressions, inspired drumming, and Billie Joe Armstrong’s unmistakable vocals, are what gives Dookie its undeniable replay value. Every track has its own deliberate identity, coupling somewhat simpler songwriting with incredibly expressive performances to give each song its own distinctive personality. Spearheaded to popularity by it’s singles, “Longview”, “Basket Case”, “Welcome to Paradise”, and “When I Come Around”, all remain today as some the bands biggest hits. But rather than this record being top heavy and lacking substance in between these highs, the full length LP provides a number of outstanding tracks to go along with its stand alone releases. If not for the seeming loss of focus on the final tracks, this album would be a perfect no skip in my eyes. However, “F.O.D.” is a lazily worded track that should have been fleshed out more as the true closer of the album. Pair this with unnecessary addition of Tré Cool’s written and performed, “All by Myself”, the closing sentiments of this record are the only things holding it back for me. Love them or hate them, Green Day was unapologetically bold and truly themselves. ⛵ The Doors - Other Voices (1971) 👻 Genre : Rock Que cet espace entre John Densmore et Robbie Krieger est lourd de sens...Au-delà de son style épuré, cette pochette renferme tout l'intérêt de ces "Autres voix" : il manque quelqu'un, un grand absent, dont le manque écrase tout et force tous les autres à prendre la parole pour combler le vide. D'où la puissance de cette pochette. En effet, vous l'aurez compris, c'est le premier album des Doors sans leur chanteur originel, Jim Morrison, tout aussi bien génie créatif que poète torturé, mort à l'été 70. Perdre un chanteur, c'est perdre sa voix, d'autant plus quand aucun des autres membres n'est chanteur de formation. Ce qui se ressent dans l'album : une alternance entre Ray Manzarek, aux claviers, et Krieger, le guitariste, pour jouer ce rôle très lourd à porter, sans parvenir à s'illustrer. Le manque de formation des deux musiciens dans la partie vocale se fait sentir. Du côté des paroles, le groupe n'a même pas essayé de cacher le malaise : tout ou presque parle de Morrison, de façon consciente ou non, dans les textes ou dans les titres (Wandering Musician et Hang On to Your Life sont à sans équivoque). Dans Tightrope Ride, bon morceau rock incisif, il est même fait mention de Brian Jones, guitariste des Rolling Stones mort deux ans plus tôt dans des circonstances troubles, lui aussi membre du tragique "club des 27", rassemblant les musiciens célèbres morts à 27 ans. Comme Morrison. Sur Ships with Sails, The Doors semblent même s'extirper de l'image de leur ancien chanteur en produisant un long morceau instrumental aux paroles touchantes et naïves. Avant de perdre en énergie sur les morceaux suivants. Finalement, Other Voices sauve les meubles, sans que le groupe semble avoir tranché entre la différenciation et la poursuite du chemin tracé par l'esprit créatif Morrison. Be so happy that when others look at you , they become happy too. Eating through the bin I saw a homeless man eating through the bin and I’ve got a lump on my throat. Normally these homeless people just come in and “work” they treat it like a job and very fussy even when you give them food, they refuse . But this morning this guy was truly homeless. Broke my heart. Going through the bin… it was awful 😢 just makes you appreciate food more. Can’t wait to go home and finish those tin food from my mil!!’ Broke my head in school I remember I was such a joker in school. People come to my class for all my jokes and impersonations. So the teacher was on his way to teach and I was running back to my spot and hit my head on the table! It was a massive cut and blood came running down my cheeks . It was a lot of blood. My hot teacher drove me to the doctor and they gave me a few stitches. Reading Rupaul and how cheeky he was remind me of my own story. You should see how the class was packed with students from other classes just to see me perform 🤣🤣🤣 I genuinely have no shame . My grades were awful . I just love having fun and making friends. It was like a “ family “

So the rainbow high series rebrand to rainbow world and episodes so far are so cute and adorable the only thing that annoys and I dislike is the singing in episodes everything else is either fine and okay or nice I like it so far it's not too much or over the top it. But it can be dull or random sometimes which confuses and bores me too sometimes for episodes. It's not bad it just needs work and more creativity and also interesting ideas as for now I think rainbowworld is 5/10 or 6/10 and as for rainbow high 8/10. SHŌGUN Chic@s está semana llego a su fin una de las mejores series "SHŌGUN" protagonizada por hiroyuki Sanada,Anna Sawai y Cosmo Jarvis. La serie ambientada en el año 1600 nos muestra a Yoshii Toranaga y la amenaza contra su vida cuando el consejo de referentes conspiran contra el y superarlo hasta convertirse en shogun de japon,para su suerte y alivio parece un barco europeo y el marinero John Blackthorne quien de otro lugar,dónde las guerras son diferentes y todos sus conocimientos le serán de gran ayuda a toranaga para acabar con este conflicto,la presencia de John no es del agrado de todos especialmente de los sacerdotes jesuitas y de los comerciantes portugueses, también está Mariko una noble cristiana y alguien muy clave en todo esto. Es una serie que me encantó de principio a fin,valió la pena la espera todo fue tratado de la mejor manera,una narración maravillosa, vestuario, escenografía, cultura,costumbres y acción que tal vez no tiene mucha pero cuando vemos es lo más,momentos en los que se lucieron y resultado fue el mejor,me sorprendió y me gustó mucho ver más que nada lo que fueron las estrategias de toranaga para ganar la guerra,cada pieza que movía,cada acción que te hace dudar de su liderazgo hasta que vemos los hechos y el hombre es un genio. Los otros dos que también se roban la serie son Anna sawai como Mariko con un pasado trágico y que le es fiel a toranaga,una actuación brillante y capitulo trás capitulo se luce y lo que vemos en el capítulo 9 una escena tremenda,como también la actuación de Cosmo Jarvis como John este navegante que le será de mucha ayuda a toranaga y como el mismo se fue adaptando a las costumbres de Japón. Hiroyuki Sanada,lo habrán visto en alguna producción de Hollywood,pero lo que hace acá es lo mas un 10. Laapataa Ladies (2024) Runtime: 2h 2min Available on: Netflix Genre: Comedy, Satire Dir: Kiran Rao Actors: Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, etc. The moment I saw that it was an Aamir Khan Production, I instantly got reminded of a similar wonder by the same production house, Peepli Live. Safe to say, Laapataa ladies exceeded my expectations in that sense. Set in rural India, Laapataa Ladies follows the journey of 2 newlywed women who get lost, as the title suggests, from the same train. In one line, a refreshing storyline with some amazing acting performance and occasional comedic relief with a strong social message makes it a must watch. Laapataa Ladies, in my opinion, is a perfect follow-up movie for ‘12th Fail’, released last year, showing the struggles and culture of the rural India. The movie succeeds in delivering a strong message to the audience, helped by the amazing acting performances of everyone involved. Kudos to Kiran Rao for bringing a unique story to the Indian cinema that has a little bit of everything for everyone. It’s a shame that it didn’t get much run time in theatres, but is worthy of every praise it is getting on social media, thanks to its OTT release on Netflix. Rewatched it after seeing it last in the theater and it doesn’t disappoint. We meet the guardians following the events of Endgame. A broken Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), still refusing to accept Gamora’s fate, must rally his team once more for a mission that will determine the fate of the galaxy. This time light is brought upon another beloved character’s origin story, and while some character arcs are coming to an end, others are just getting started. This film to me is the embodiment of bittersweet. While still having the humoristic attributes that the Guardians films master, this one is grimmer, darker and grayer. I loved seeing these characters have their serious moments, their own way of grieving and their way of dealing with loss. Unlike the first two films, where each character had his own thing and stuck to it, here everyone has a diverse variety of moods and emotions that blend wonderfully and feel refreshing. James Gunn absolutely crushed it. From the very first film he nurtured these characters that we now cherish with love and passion. The wide range of music revealed in this film allows the audience to groove and set out on an adventure with the characters, leaving us wanting more, and as soon as possible. Here lies my love for Marvel, for this genre. A film that allows me to connect with my inner child, and also be able to enjoy watching as an adult. I hope to see more of these films. Now Rebel Moon – Part 2 has been released, I thought I’d update my opinion of the previous instalment of this franchise. I still think the villain is decent, being normally creepy and evil when needed to be, but still doesn’t give that specific level of threat that makes him in any way a danger to our protagonists. Additionally, the meet concept of the Imperium is flawed. Throughout the film, we are told how evil they are, how their king is dead and they do bad things. We’re shown images of burned battlefields, ash falling from the sky, and bodies of the fallen, but none of it hits any emotion. The Imperium is supposed to be this great threat that is terrifying but when it comes down to it, all that happens is we’re told about how bad they are and never really see it. This results in a rather flat and boring antagonist that I don’t feel happy to see defeated. The finale is also filled with issues but most of all, the betrayal that serves as the catalyst for the final battle is out of left field, doesn’t make complete sense, and is another example of poor story planning. At no point was it foreshadowed and we never learn enough about the betrayer for the audience to truly connect/understand them and have it be the devastating blow it’s meant to be. Overall, I think this film needed a lot of rewrites. The protagonist doesn’t completely fit in the story, the story itself is ludicrous and absolutely idiotic, and the characters never truly get time to grow and interact. Only real good thing about this film is that its somehow better than it’s sequel. *Please remember, people are allowed their opinions. At first glance I was thinking low budget shark bite flick, but it turned out to be a very good testament of will and perseverance. Some tactics used were a little suspect but overall this movie was a little better than Jaws because it felt like a situation that any of us could be stuck in. The fake band in Stereophonic is my new favourite band. This brilliant new play from David Adjmi offers a fly-on-the-wall style insight into the drug-addled and emotionally intense marathon recording session of a 1970s British-American rock group simultaneously on the brink of super stardom and the precipice of dissolution. The naturalistic, ensemble cast driven, three hour piece may not sound like the most thrilling show on Broadway but it just might be, and not only because of the dynamic soundtrack of original songs by Will Butler. The Fleetwood Mac inspired narrative unfolds at such a genuine pace, motivated by the anxieties, tensions and insecurities of the group's members as the two relatively inexperienced sound engineers listen in with panic. Everything from the costume design of enviable vintage store finds, to the live mixing of the musical performances demonstrates fantastic creative work, and as we anticipate Tuesday's Tony Award nominations, Stereophonic is one word you should expect to hear a lot more. “A Taxi Driver” (2017) It’s 1980 and South Korea is in political turmoil after the assassination of President Park Chung Hee. Military occupation is heavy in Gwangju City making it a very dangerous place to be in, and a hot topic for daring journalists to cover. Director Jang Hoon, and writers Eom Yu-na and Jo Seul-yeah come together and put forth a film about this historical event, which is based on a true story, through the eyes of a taxi driver named Kim Man-seob and German journalist named Jurgen Hinzpeter. Kim Man-seob, played by Song Kang-ho, is a typical law-abiding citizen from Seoul who fell on hard times and must do what he can to provide for his daughter. Jurgen Hinzpeter, played by Thomas Kretschmann, is just another opportunist looking for any hot topic that’ll earn him a big payday. Unbeknownst to them, the political turmoil would equally affect them both. From the beginning, there’s witty dialogue and comedic relief that sets a welcoming tone to the plot and premise of the film. After learning what sparked interest in Gwangju City for both men, we are taken on a journey full of unexpected bumps on the road. Citizens everywhere, especially in Gwangju City, have been protesting the oppression at the hands of the military occupation, while using their voice in fighting for a democracy. In such a difficult time like this in any country, it is expected that civilians will be met with violence and suppressing of information from their own government. Director Jang Hoon and co. did a tremendous job in bringing to life the horrors of the military occupation that, at one point, I felt like I was watching a horror movie. redveil - Niagara (2020) Born in 2004, Marcus Morton, redveil, was just 16 years old when he released his second independent album, Niagara. The sonics throughout this record are raw, experimental, and a bit chaotic at times, but it’s these traits that exemplify both the highs and lows on this record. The runaway thought I’ve always had with this record is, “how the hell did a 16 year old make this?”. Having executive producer credits on 7 of the 10 tracks, it’s important to note this is largely a self produced album. While it may not be the most complete body of work, the production and atmospheres created by redveil on this record are far ahead of his years. From start to finish it’s easy to draw stylistic comparisons to his predecessors, I’d argue each track has its own discernible influences. redveil does a good job however of not leaning too heavily on these, but rather putting his own unique spin on each sound. One can hear elements of BROCKHAMPTON on “5500”, as well as vocal similarities to Earl Sweatshirt on “fastlane”, and plenty more for the listener to connect. This record is rough around the edges, but has some undeniable highs with tracks like “campbell” and “drown”. Unfortunately some of its lows like “pigeonman” derail the momentum of the tracks that carry the bulk of the promise in redveil’s newly emerging sound. All in all, this record is a fun listen that I’d recommend to fans of experimental hip-hop, and definitely to anyone heavy on production. I find its best moments are found in the samples used, and the vocalization that is coupled with them. Thematically, Mac touches on his struggles with substance abuse and its relation to his career thus far, often times shared via metaphors and the sonic subtleties on some of the more stark beats such as “Wings” and “Jet Fuel”. The way these elements are expressed makes this more emotionally mature than any of his previous records to date. This record could be characterized as transitional jazz rap, but at its core the R&B aspects are what I find to be the most expressive in each track. Something I’ve always admired about this record is Mac’s unwavering honesty, and that it is very much his own. Rather than utilizing features to provide star power or name recognition, it’s almost as if they’re Easter eggs for the fan to pick out, like Snoop Dogg’s vocals on “What’s the Use?” or John Mayer playing lead guitar on “Small Worlds”. I place Swimming among some of the most cohesive rap albums of the late 2010’s, painting a vivid picture of Mac’s reality for the listener to explore from track to track. - I wanted to pick a personal favorite of mine for the first review on here, and that’s precisely what this album is.
