I'm not. Or at least I wasn't... When I was breastfeeding my little boy, I cut out dairy from my diet for two years. When I was supporting clients with gluten sensitivity and coeliac disease, I cut out gluten to help me understand their plight. To support my own skin I barely drink alcohol, I don't use the pill, I eat a tonne of vegetables in a huge variety, I've stopped wearing makeup during the day and friends will tell you I drink enough water to drown a small horse. I'm not even that stressed anymore. But sugar, well sugar's not my problem... Or is it? Even recently I've been getting breakouts. I've been telling myself 'take more zinc', 'drink more daily greens', 'drink that milk thistle tea that Margot Robbie claimed to have sipped on for her role in Barbie' and I've been doing it all, religiously. HOW CAN I SPECIALISE IN SKIN HEALTH AND STILL HAVE BREAKOUTS? On reflection of this super frustrating question, sugar has ALWAYS been the issue for me. I've been in denial all this time. I did two weeks low GI in March and my skin was as smooth as a peach! Roll on Easter weekend, one Lindt egg and an apple pie later and I'm getting breakouts again. Swipe to find out why >>>

To say that I’m grateful for this review, and this client would be an understatement. Working with this lady over the last six or more months has been a pivotal part of my practice. It’s cheap, it’s effective and you can access it anywhere. It’s through drinking water! That’s right, the simple act of maintaining hydration levels throughout the day can improve skin health and hydrate the skin just as well as any topical moisturiser. When you think about it, it makes total sense. Our cells and tissues are made up of anywhere between 60-75% water, and if we are dehydrated, our body carefully prioritises crucial functions over skin health. Therefore, it’s super important and easy to maintain hydration. Also, the skin has a naturally waterproof barrier. If it didn’t, we would all be a big soggy mess. Therefore, when choosing skincare products to support your skincare routine, it’s important to ensure that they use delivery mechanisms that ensure absorption into the lower layers of the skin – and that they aren’t just evaporating on the surface of the skin and leaving a pretty (albeit chemically induced) scent. That’s for another day! Don’t like plain water? Try adding a slice of lemon, cucumber, mint or even a couple of strawberries. So following a little bit of down time, I've made a big decision to specialise my business and start working in supporting skin, hair and nail health. This is ultimately where my passion lies. I want to help my clients to look and feel amazing from the inside out! I will of course continue to support all of my existing clients with their health goals. I just felt now was the right time to make the switch. So from now on I'm going to be concentrating on all things skin, hair and nails and this is where I'll be focusing my continued professional development. As you probably already know, dysfunction in these areas is very often rooted in gut health and nutritional deficiencies. I did it! 🤩 I haven't told many people I was doing this, as I was so nervous, but today I have just completed my second live webinar for the staff at The Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge. I am not a natural public speaker. In fact, in the lead up to anything like this I am nauseous, I don't sleep and I get a bad tummy. It is quite frankly the worst stress I have ever experienced. But today I completed the two part series and absolutely loved it. 💗 I've been preparing for these webinars on Inflammation and Sickness Behaviour and The Mighty Gut-Brain Axis for 3 weeks now, and it's been one of the toughest assignments I've ever had. Just wanted to say though that it has been 100% worthwhile and such a great experience pushing myself way outside of my comfort zone. I hope it will benefit the lovely people that so selflessly help us in the NHS. I also hope that it will promote more integrative healthcare in the future.
