Welcome April! March seemed to fly by, but I’m excited for the beauty and promise you bring. With your gentle rains and blooming flowers, it’s a time for fresh beginnings. In March, I broke my market hiatus since December, taking time to plan for Spring and Summer. Our trip to Yucatán was unforgettable, exploring Merida, Valladolid, Ticul, Motul, Hol Box, Tinum, and Homun. It was truly one for the books! Our first market of the year at Inn at the Mission @innatthemissionsjc with @thepopupshoppes was a success, and we’re gearing up for the Glenchella event at Mercantile Collective @themercantilecollective this Saturday. As for April intentions: 1) I’m eager to learn to make marmalade from our mandarin and bitter orange trees. 2) With warmer days ahead, I plan to plant herbs like basil, parsley, and oregano. 3) I’m committing to less scrolling and more enjoying, starting with disconnecting one day a week, aiming for Sundays and Mondays. I’ve been running since middle school and @orlandotrackshack has always been my home running store since. They do a series every year that consists of 6 races. Three 5ks, one 5 miler, one 4 miler, and one 10k. Each race has points. The distances are challenging in itself let alone racing fast enough to achieve top places to gain the most points you can. Five races are needed to qualify for the series prize. And This season was my turn to be the Track Shack Series Champion! I’m celebrating, especially because of all the behind the scenes challenges I’ve been maneuvering through. Im celebrating because I never thought that one day it would be my name up there as the series champ. It’s been a fun time. Thank you Track Shack for keeping the Orlando community fit. [Long Monologue] My first time on a plane for 18 months… But why?? ✈️ As you know I absolutely love travel, so much that I dedicated a whole blog to it (website currently under reconstruction)!! You see, I didn’t travel abroad much when I was younger, but in my early 20s I got the “bug” as it were - and never really looked back. I loved the freedom it gave me, exploring somewhere new and unfamiliar. Not knowing what I would find. So during my late 20s in particular, I enjoyed a period of visiting lots of amazing places with my partner. Only during the pandemic did we have a break of about 6 months I think! I couldn’t have imagined not travelling every few months or so… Then last year I became a Mum for the first time and things changed a little. We decided not to go abroad in 2023 and that was absolutely the right decision for us. Whilst travelling with a baby is absolutely doable, it has its own challenges and isn’t for everyone! Did I get FOMO? Did I miss the sun? Yes, but I knew at that moment it wasn’t right for me. Don’t get me wrong, I do plan to travel this year (we are currently away in the Canaries) but I also realise I’m in a season of life where things will be different - and that’s OK!! So on a separate note and not especially travel related… I think it’s so important for women to be able to make choices that are right for THEM. Not what they think they should do, or what is expected of them from others. Weekend at the Cove 🚴🏼♀️ . . . Carvins cove is one of my favorite spots in Virginia. This is where so many new adventures began for myself This place has seen so many blood, sweat, and tears . . When I was long distance hiking- I often thought about this place. Wondering if we would see each other again. Wondering how my legs would feel moving in a way besides hiking . . Every time I experience the Cove it brings back so many memories but also a feeling of a brand new experience seeming how everytime I find my way back- I’m such a different human than I was before ✨ . . It’s been way over a year since I’ve pedaled my way down a trail- it’s easy to feel like it’s starting over- but reality. We aren’t. So don’t forget to give yourself some grace as your breaking through the fear and comfort zones 🦋 . . There was moments I could see my growth and confidence from where I was before and then, there was also times where I was struggling. I also challenged myself, had so much fun, and every muddy puddle reminded me that I’m in my natural element and life’s not that serious . . As I was biking and knocking out 11.5 miles with my fam, I was reminded to embrace the bumps in the roads. It’s easy to gain momentum then one stump, rock or root will hit just right where you lose it all Life is the same way- we have the waves. Where some seasons are better than others We have some seasons in our business where there’s more momentum than others . . It doesn’t mean you are failure when you lose the momentum- it just means you have to think of a different solution and try again🌀 . . I have “never a failure, always a lesson” tattooed on my ribs for my everyday reminder. We are here to learn and grow. We can only see as far as our eyes are open and we NEVER fail unless we quit. Ohhhh those white blazes🤍 . . Something so small but that impacts so much I took a drive down one of my favorite places- blue ridge parkway which led me straight to a white blaze As I looked out, taking in the view, tears running down my face- wow. I actually hiked this. I hiked the entire AT. I have hiked the entire East Coast Wow . . So much swarmed my head as I was taking a moment to process. I thought about growth. That, scared, little, lost girl that was about to tackle 2000 miles with zero experience. I thought about how everyone thought I was crazy. I thought about those crazy feeling walking into the unknown in the pouring rain. I thought about my season of life at the time and how walking away from everything seemed to be my only option . . Then, now, I touch the blaze- I see a flash of the journey I’ve overcome and somehow the end of my journey lead me straight back to a white blaze . . The trail is a weird thing. I’ll forever say it’s a blessing and curse. It strips you from everything you have ever known and forces you to find the strength you never knew you could carry. You learn to love parts of yourself, you never knew you could. You find the strength to keep going when you don’t think you can take another step. You use your brain and come up with ideas you never knew was possible. You learn you are worth fighting for and life is worth living. You learn that life is worth slowing down and it’s the small simple moments that mean the most 🫶🏼✨ . . Social media does not and should not control you. You control social media, sis! Take your power back! You are THE BOSS, which means you define what consistency looks like for you! Many of us are wives, moms, working a 9-5, and business owners. We simply don’t have the capacity to post every day. Honestly, posting every day may not be purposeful, and the posts may not even be quality. We don’t want to show up just to be seen. We want to show up with purpose and intentionality. Talk about embracing your seasons! I love that I get to spend more time with my daughter and enjoy precious moments that mean just as much to her as they do me. On Thursday, we had an exciting time at her school for her class Christmas party! Then, my husband and I took her to her gymnastics class and to view Christmas lights. I was exhausted by the end of the day, but it was worth seeing the smile on my daughter's face. Spending quality time with my family is so important. Having that balance in my life is my priority, and it is necessary for getting in alignment in this season and the next.
