Something I’ve struggled with since David began full-time school is how to transition from work mode to family mode. I don’t really commute, though I do sit in the pick up line these days. That’s the most physical distance I get from my office right now. So, around 2:30 I pack up for the day - close my notebooks, clean up my desk, and head downstairs. Not long after that, I head out for the pickup line. Occasionally, I’ll take a phone call for work, answer voice memos or make notes in Trello for work. But, lately, I’ve been trying to make this my dedicated reading time. I aim to take a physical book I want to read so I can really unplug, and I dive in. I usually get 30-40 minutes of time to read (maybe less if my hubby calls when he leaves work 😂). This is phase one of winding down my day. When we get home, 4-5pm is my real down time. I try to read more, snuggle with David, or do low-energy tasks. My energy levels drastically tank around this time. So I’m leaning into that and trying to not make myself feel worse about it all. After that window of time, we move on to our evening life at home. But, that’s about what my afternoon routine looks like these days. Since it's Monday (Happy Monday!) I thought I'd share this moodboard for a brand concept I worked on recently. The brand was designed for an online antenatal class to help young mothers prepare for their first birthing experience. As a mother myself, this was definitely a project close to my heart, as I deeply connected to the vision behind the program.
