A lot can change in 10 years... Like XRAY’s very own DJ King of Cute Kittens (aka Booker), the station’s youngest DJ on PNKHSE Radio. Booker was, as Journey once said “Raised on Radio.” He’s 10 now, and he’s been coming into the studio with his dad, Jeremy Schuyler aka DJ Denim Dad to do his radio show for as long as he can remember. Look: he even had an in with XRAY’s OG Music Director @aaronhallhq 👀 We’ve all changed in 10 years, whether we lost hair because we chose to cut it all off (as Booker did this week, pictured on slide 3, much to Jeremy’s upset), or as an unwilling participant in that thing called aging. There's been a lot of newspapers closed lately, but this one hurts the most. The Whitehorse Daily Star was one of my first jobs in journalism and was independently owned. It's the second newspaper I worked at that's closed over the last 14 months. The Cold Lake Sun was quietly shuttered in February 2023. Support your local media if you can with a subscription. And it's not lost on me that I am sharing this on a Meta product that scooped up most of media's advertising revenue that paid for journalism, blocked Canadian newssites, including my tiny start up The Flatlander, depriortized global news from being prominent on people's "news feeds" but continues to help spread disinformation that divides people and threatens democracy, but here we all are. #journalism #indiemedia #newspapers #meta #facebook
