Slaves cannot express or assert themselves properly. They cannot realize their potential. Only the free man is capable of doing so. We are becoming aware of the great power that lies in our speech as our souls are elevated this Pesach. We are using our speech as a tool to build bridges, create connections and repair the world. Currently reading. Since my time away I’ve been primarily reading children’s books. Picture books for storytime. Early chapter books because I’ve had a bunch of patrons asking for recommendations. Graphic novels. Right now I’m reading a midgrade novel called Ring of Solomon by Aden Polydoros. I had originally gotten this for my 12 year old (who devoured it in a day) and they thought I might like it, so figured I’d give it a shot. 11 chapters in and I’m enjoying it. It’s @matzahbooksoup day, and I couldn’t be more excited! This month, we read Blank by the amazing @zibbyowens 🤗 and wow did I eat this book up! This book brought all the Jewish, soap opera vibes, and I’m here for it. Pippa needs to write her sophomore novel, but she’s had writers block for what feels like forever. With a huge deadline ahead, she’s eager for any and all inspiration. When her son gives her an idea, she jumps on board, despite its ridiculousness. This book was so Jewish, and I loved it! Zibby really weaves together a wonderfully Jewish family. Plus, I gotta say, this book was funnier than I anticipated. The topics in the story could be heavy, but they were handled with a lightness that made me fly through the book. If you haven’t picked up Blank yet, definitely add it to your beach tbr.
