Gallery Hyundai presents ’Beyond Iridescence‘, a solo exhibition commemorating the 3rd anniversary of Kim Tschang-Yeul’s passing, from April 24 through June 9, 2024. The exhibition is Kim‘s fifteenth solo exhibition with the gallery, illustrating his longstanding examination into the essence of visual art by way of his iconic ’water droplets‘. The exhibition displays about thirty important works in remembrance of Kim’s groundbreaking artistic trajectory, from the early 1970s to his later years in the 2010s. Having blended strong primary colors with darker tones, the traces of the transient colors create portals of flexibility through which Yeonkyung’s mutant is free to dream more fiercely. There have been some changes in the Korean gallery at the British Museum. This jar has replaced a similar-sized jar that features orchid decoration in iron oxide. Good to have a dragon on display this year, of course! It is on loan from the National Museum of Korea. Dated broadly to 1600-1700, its construction looks to be the same as the moon jars that started to be produced in the late 17th century. Iron oxide decoration is seen during this period as access to Cobalt via China was curtailed, presumably due to the collapse of the Ming dynasty. 💚KRANE HOME💚 This being my personal page where I post mostly about fashion my second love, I haven’t been talking a lot about art, wallpaper and my business kranehome much. (Everyone needs an outlet!) 2022 marks my 10th year in business which for me is a big milestone. I started it when I was 28 years old. It’s ok do the math LOL! My business and I were featured 15 times in the press in 2021 and we also had our highest sales year ever. For that I’m endlessly grateful because 2021 was HARD though equally rewarding. I thought I’d post this photo taken by the insanely talented elizabethmarylavin for the dhome March/April 2021 story. I had just landed in Dallas about 6 weeks before this photo was taken of me in our new home. jessicajonesotte D home’s editor was so incredible and even told us about our boys school (eternally grateful!) The morning of the shoot I woke up with a swollen cheek from a dental issue…You can kind of see it in the photo (right side) and now I like that about it! That week I was going through so much stress with moving our family from LA, decorating the house, didn’t have proper childcare or any support on the ground yet, was completely in over my head, and I forced myself to enjoy the shoot nonetheless by putting on a new outfit from shophpvillage and laughing a big old crooked smile. That’s what life is all about!! Thank you for your support on here… I know it’s just IG but every interaction truly means the world to me. My New Years resolution is to collab with at least 10 women in a meaningful way so let’s do this thing 2022!! 자연의 색감들을 뽑아낼 때면 참 다양한 색들이 존재하는 구나 느낀다. 우리가 익숙해서 잘 몰랐던, 가만히 집중해서 관찰하다보면 참 많은 색들이 우리 곁에 있다.
인위적으로 색을 만들어 쓰는 것이 어렵다 생각했었는데 자연물을 따라가다보니, 자연물에 색을 입히다보니 더 자연스럽고 풍성해진다. 이것 또한 자연이 주는 힘일지도!
