This area has had increasing incidents of landslides, causing much disruption and grief to the residents. 😪 Large trees with deep, branching root systems help keep soil in place, reducing the risk of landslides. 💛The local community, including children from the Halwathura Tamil School and Horana Plantations Child Development Centre, their parents, members of the community church and those living in the surrounding area, took great pleasure in working together to help with the planting. Species of planted trees include Mango, Jak Fruit, Garcinia (Goraka), Rambutan and Ceylon Breadfruit (Wal Del). 🍒🍇🥭 The plants will be cared for by the staff of Horana Plantations, while the WNPS team plans to carry out a biodiversity assessment of Halwathura Estate later this month. उरणच्या ऐतिहासिक द्रोणागिरी डोंगरावर भूस्खलन, माती खाली सरकायला सुरुवात, नागरिकांना सतर्कतेचा इशारा नवी मुंबईजवळ असणाऱ्या रायगड जिल्ह्यातील उरण तालुक्यातील द्रोणागिरी डोंगरावर भूस्खलन झाल्याची घटना घडली आहे. उरण शहराजवळ असलेला द्रोणागिरी डोंगराचा काही भाग खाली आला असल्याने येथील नागरिकांना प्रशासनाने सतर्क राहण्याचं आवाहन केलं आहे. या डोंगराजवळ काही भागात इमारती असून मानवी वस्ती आहे. सतत पडणारा मुसळधार पावसामुळे डोंगरभाग भुसभुशीत झाला असल्याने दगड मातीचा मोठा ओघ डोंगरावरून घसरत असल्याचे निदर्शनास येत आहे. द्रोणागिरी डोंगरावर भूस्खलन होत आहे. त्या भागात काही अंतरावर ONGC कंपनी तसेच काही रहिवासी इमारती सुद्धा आहेत. त्यामुळे स्थानिक प्रशासनातर्फे नागरिकांना सतर्क राहण्याचे आवाहन करण्यात आलं असून द्रोणागिरी डोंगर भागात जाण्यास मज्जाव करण्यात आला आहे. उरण तालुक्यातील द्रोणागिरी डोंगराच्या पायथ्याला पोखरून विकासकांनी तेथे बांधकामे उभी केली आहेत. बेकायदेशीररित्या डोंगर पोखरल्याने पावसाळ्यात डोंगरावरील माती आणि दगड येथे वाहून येत असल्याने मोठय़ा प्रमाणात गाळ साचत आहे. अद्यापही येथे मोठय़ा प्रमाणात पोखरणे सुरूच आहे. उरण तालुक्याची संरक्षण भिंत असलेल्या ऐतिहासिक द्रोणागिरी डोंगराच्या पायथ्याजवळील माती काढून सपाटीकरण करण्यात आले आहे. या परिसरातील जमिनींची विक्री करून सिमेंटची पक्की घरे बांधली जात आहेत. मागील आठवडाभरापासून सुरू असलेल्या पावसामुळे या परिसरातील डोंगराच्या पायथ्याची माती सरकू लागल्याने पायथ्याशी असलेल्या घरांना धोका निर्माण झालेला आहे. भविष्यात हे उत्खनन थांबले नाही तर डोंगरावरून दरडी कोसळून अपघात होण्याच्या घटना वारंवार घडण्याच्या शक्यता येथिक नागरिक वर्तवत आहेत. त्यामुळे आता प्रशासन यासंदर्भात काय उपाययोजना करणार, याकडे सर्वांचे लक्ष लागले आहे. #Landslide #Landslidesafety #LandslideAwareness #landslideprevention #landsliderisk #landslidewarning #landslideresponse #landslidemitigation #landslideresearch #naturaldisaster #geohazards

The signs of Joshimath disaster were first observed in October 2021. Since then, the condition has begun to deteriorate, leading to land subsidence and landslides in the Chamoli area of Uttarakhand. According to reports, a 2022 expert panel appointed by the Uttarakhand government discovered that Joshimath is “sinking” in some places as a result of both man-made and natural reasons. By the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, huge portions of the town underwent unexpected land-sinking, and numerous homes also had significant cracking.
