We made the most of our long weekend by packing up and heading up to Pawleys Island. On our Sunset stroll, we happened upon a protected area of the beach, up against the dunes — it’s a Loggerhead Sea Turtle nest that SCUTE (South Carolina United Turtle Enthusiasts) and their volunteers have found and roped off for protection. As of 3 days ago, they’ve reported that our small beach (South Litchfield) has 9 reported nests! It’s definitely a sight to see when they hatch and all the baby turtles make a dash for the ocean!
