City parents, how do you connect with nature? 🌳🐝🐜🐿🐞⛰🍁🌸🐛 Anecdotally, I find our urban parent friends make great efforts to connect with nature, the idea of natural, shop local farmers' markets, etc. 🌲 We are really lucky to live close to #HighPark, Toronto's largest public park. We're members of the nature club there and have a blast learning about the ecosystems in the park, being active outdoors all year round and (hopefully), fostering a lifelong appreciation for the environment. 🌲 Toronto is situated on Lake Ontario, surrounded by the #GreenBelt and the largest urban park in North America - the #RougePark #RougeValley. The aquarium is big enough to make it worth the admission, but not overwhelming to see it all in half a day (at most). My #citykid doesn’t know how cool she is. Studio paint parties were not a thing when I was growing up in suburbia. City parents, we live smaller, so where do you host your kid parties? . . When your friend’s dad is a pro photographer, you get to have your party in his studio. The kids loved painting and running around the space. Studios, parks and community centres are popular (and cheap/free) destinations for kid parties when you live in a smaller urban space. We simply don’t have room to host a dozen 4 year olds, plus parents. My suburban childhood was spent hanging out in basements. Without sounding smug, I kinda think this urban approach is more fun. The focus is on the event and play instead of gifts. I’m not sure what it is I love so much about this stretch of Dundas West between Sheridan and Dufferin, but it gives me all kinds of feels. . .
