Our second graders had their First Communion retreat yesterday as they continued to prepare to receive their First Communion today. Father John Joseph visited to speak with the girls and hear their confessions, and the girls had quiet moments of reflection in Chapel as they read their family letters and cards from their friends in third grade. Sister Patricia also visited the sacristy with the girls to teach them about what they would see on the altar (the vessels and vestments) and explained how once they receive Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, they become like a monstrance (showing Jesus's goodness to others), and a tabernacle (holding Jesus inside them). The Sacrament of Confirmation is an important milestone in the spiritual journey of every Catholic child. Preparing children for this sacrament is a beautiful and essential process that helps them deepen their faith and relationship with God. Through prayer, study, and reflection, they learn about the significance of Confirmation and the responsibilities that come with it. Last night, members of our Sacramental Team led by Fr Tony who is back from his overseas mission trip just in time for Session 2, took parents and their children through the second part of the Confirmation Preparation Program. This weekend Sr Carino and Sr Lucy ran a Confirmation retreat at the parish of the Good Shepherd, Nottingham, for a group of over 40 candidates. We were thoroughly impressed by the young people's engagement in everything from prayer and discussions to competitive games and flag-waving! It was particularly wonderful to be able to end our time together yesterday and today in front of the Lord in Eucharistic Adoration. HOW TO GET CONFIRMED AS A CATHOLIC ADULT? π Catholic adults who are active in the practice of their faith but who, for whatever reason, have never received the Sacrament of Confirmation are encouraged to do so. The Adult Confirmation process will consist of welcoming potential candidates and conducting a discernment interview with them to assess readiness to enter sacramental preparation. Sacramental Preparation will begin after Easter. This preparation will consist of weekly sessions, a day of reflection, and a final interview.
